Oh, I think this will be the first VS UHD I'll be passing on. The black levels will be interesting though.

To clarify since a couple posts have referred to this as a VS UHD: this is not a Vinegar Syndrome release, it’s by the label Gunpowder & Sky, who are now a “partner label.”

Thx. I actually thought "VS (Gunpowder & Sky)" was sth like "VS (Peekarama)" for sci-fi.

(And my VS 4K collection will remain complete then after all.)

EDIT: And meh, placed an order anyway.

While I certainly embrace progress, as long as it's not for the sake of progress, this actually also sounds like trouble and it wouldn't surprise me, if stuff like that is also the cause for brief pixelation or stutter on certain players/decoders. I'm saying this also, because I'm a little disappointed that there never was a explanation for the cause of the former. I do have the replacement (I actually have 2 replacements, which isn't my fault), so that's cool, but it would've been nice to know what the problem was.

Very exciting and unexpected news. I didn't care for the original super milky color pass, so hopefully HDR will firm this up a bit.

It won't be on sale but definitely should still be available. It's limited to 2,000 copies.

Oh strange, on their site the wording seems to indicate the title will be part of the sale.

I think the "milky" look is intended, so I wouldn't expect the HDR to change the look all that much in regards to black levels. Does anyone own the German 4K release with HDR? I'd imagine this new release will look almost identical.
