Discs with Dolby Atmos Demo - Blu-ray Forum

I recently watched a couple of movies that had a brief Dolby Atmos demo at the beginning. I'm not talking about an outright Atmos demo disc. Now for the life of me I can't remember what those movies were. Does anyone know of any discs, whether 4k or regular blu-ray, that have that Atmos demo at the beginning? I've tried searching Google and this forum with no luck so far.

I have absolutely no idea but if you happen to have an Xbox One (looks like I see one in your HT gallery) they have a Dolby Atmos app that comes with several demos.

Keep in mind you have to pay for the app to utilize Atmos in movies and games (at least you did back when I still used my Xbone) but I'm pretty sure it's free to download the app and try the demos.

I've actually had the app on my Xbox One S for quite a while now, but I had forgotten about all the demos. I use my Xbox One S all the time to watch blu-rays and 4k discs with Atmos and I get Atmos to my receiver with no problem. After looking at it again just now, I believe the only thing you have to pay for is if you use headphones and want Atmos through them. It appears the app is free for regular HT use.

ETA: I did a little more searching and confirmed it is free for HT or soundbar use. You only have to pay for it to use it with headphones.

I can't remember which ones have them but a few are available here for you to download and move to a usb drive. Then play them on the player.

most Lionsgate BD's Sicario, Blair Witch, Deepwater Horizon etc have this one
but only plays at start of movie
so you need to reload disc to play again

That is the exact demo clip I was thinking of. This makes sense because I remember seeing it on a disc where I wouldn't have expected it. I also recently picked up a regular blu-ray of Sicario out of the $5 bin at Wal-Mart. That must have been it. Thanks.

Not all of them, Suspiria 2018 is one exception where this Unfold ident was absent.

Lionsgate UHD BD don't have it as far as I know. I have Sicario and the three Divergent US UHD BD's and they don't play this demo.

did you try the BD ?

I don't have UHD 4k yet so was referring to BD's but thought UHD would have them also

yeh forgot about that and Hacksaw Ridge never got it either,
so you're right, not all of them (have edited and changed to most)

there's a 8 sec DTS:X demo on Nerve BD which is also Lionsgate

Studio Canal's Gunman + Legend BD's
have a different Dolby Atmos 12-13 sec demo
but it's after movie trailers, before the main menu

It's not a demo. What you're referring to is the Dolby Atmos trailer. Some movies have DTS and Dolby trailers before the feature begins. A long time ago, Dolby had released a DVD that with all of their Dolby Digital trailers on it. It was sold on their website, but it's no longer available. As a matter of fact, I still have it.

well technically they are still sound demo trailers/intro's
you don't need to have a disc ?

I played with it and it was Sicario I was thinking of, and it's a regular blu-ray instead of a UHD disc. I put the disc in and it asked me if I wanted to continue playback where I last left off. I selected no and it started the disc over. After the previews (which can be skipped) the movie menu came up and I selected play. That's when the Atmos demo played (or whatever you want to call it).

So now that I've determined which movie it is, this thread doesn't actually belong in this forum since it wasn't a 4k disc.
