Default New well Kinda Format Adoption

hiall, ive been following blu ray from the start, no matter what my mate said with hd-dvd i stood my ground and nows the time to adopt. I am unsure what player to buy.

the problem is, is the new profiles 1.1 and 1.2 i beleive obviously i dont want to buy a 1.0 profile player, then again i would like to buy a PS3 with remote but I dont like the 40Gb cut down version only the 60GB.

Any ideas or suggestions?

cheers

Welcome to Blu-Ray Camp! I suggest you to pick PS3 80GB over 40GB, since 40GB doesn't have PS2 backward compatibilities. Another thing, PS3 2.10 Firmware already have 1.1 profile via Software Update. The Good News is that BD-Live is coming to PS3 this year!

never had any PS2 games so I got the 40Gb, am well happy with it, its really quite when playing, I recommend getting the bluetooth remote for playback makes life a lot easier, (can also use it for navigating the PS3 menus).

The PS3, as everyone has said, is the way to go right now. It is the most future-proof of all he players. However the time to buy is actually going to be this summer. If you are not already into Blu-ray, there will be lots of new players coming out in the spring, and many of these will start to incorporate profile 2.0. If you want to get a stand alone player with full capabilities, wait until summer. But if you want one now that is fully capable, get the PS3.

Isn't BD-Live suppose to be a Final Standard Profile at 2.0?

Bonus View/Profile 1.1 is the final standard profile; new hardware will have to be 1.1-compliant, but software is not required to offer 1.1 content.

BD-Live/Profile 2.0 is optional for hardware and software.
