Default Disneynature's Penguins?

Has anybody heard anything about a home release of Disneynature's Penguins that debuted in theaters earlier this year?? I've not seen any news about it hitting Blu-ray or 4K as of yet and it is well beyond the time a home release would've been hitting store shelves.

Nothing yet, but Disney's fall home video release is a little crowded with their rush to put out every Walt Disney Signature Collection out before the November 12th launch of Disney+, which will include all of them.

I'm not speculating that Penguins won't get a home video release, but Disneynature is one of the brands on the home page GUI displayed earlier this year and it wouldn't shock me if they defer it in such a way that they can brand it as a Disney+ exclusive for a period of time.

I'm not that interested in the movie itself, but sadly, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it never gets a home video release. I could see Disney doing this as sort of a "test run" to see how people react to not putting some of their less popular theatrical releases on anywhere but streaming. The movie did pretty poorly, even for a Disneynature film, so I doubt it would have sold too many copies if they did put it on Blu-ray.

I'd love to be proven wrong, even if it means having to wait a while so they can promote it as Disney+ exclusive for a while. But considering how stingy Disney is with their releases nowadays, I think it's a bit of a bad omen right now.

which is unfortunate since this would have been a sweet 4K UHD release since it theatrically went out in Dolby Atmos.

Unfortunately, even as a major Disney fan, I’ll have to agree with that sentiment. Heck, after a certain point in time, they’ve even got really crappy with their bonus content with their releases. Very few new extras and shoveling some off the disc to Disney Movies Anywhere... which us in Canada cannot even access. Sooo... yeah... kinda dumb. I remember a time when they had the best bonus features and package releases of many companies. Like, the DMC exclusive Blu-ray discs are COMPLETELY stripped of any bonus content. I’m sure they could’ve just tossed on the old DVD’s bonus material at the VERY least if they wanted to be cheap about it. But no, nothing. Movie and scene selection, that’s it, there you go.

It really gets on my nerves sometimes... but alas...

This article is a couple months old but it looks like it will be a Disney + only in 2020. Which is such a shame. I really hope Disney + fails so this trends of digital only doesn't continue with them

I am not sure about Penguins~though I am wondering if it will suffer the same fate as Disneynature Dolphins/Blue. That is one that I believe will be on the + channel only. I'd also like to have Ghost of the Mountains on blu at some point...

I really enjoyed this documentary. Great narrative, and cute voice work. It had incredible visuals as well (I saw it in IMAX). I'm surprised it hasn't been released on BD yet.
