Default Rugby World Cup 2019 - Japan

The Rugby World Cup 2019 in Japan begins this Friday the 20th of September.

Here is the entire RWC match schedule

The first match of this year's tournament in Pool A is on Friday between Japan & Russia in Toyko Stadium.

https://www.rugbyworldcup.com/match/japan-russia

These two teams are in the same group as Ireland, Scotland & Samoa. Ireland & Scotland's first match is in Yokohama Stadium on Sunday.

Russia will then take on Samoa on Tuesday the 24th of September.

I won't be able to watch the first match on Friday because I will be in work for that morning. I should be able to watch Ireland's first match with Scotland at home. But because of the time difference in my country. It will kick-off on Sunday morning at 8:45am Irish time.

Here is the entire Ireland RWC team in full for Japan. Decisions on team selection to go up against Scotland for Sunday will be made on Friday.

Some of Ireland's players have injuries in the lead up to the match against on Scotland. The injured players are Joey Carbery, Robbie Henshaw, Rob Kearney & Keith Earls. Out of those players that are/were injured for Sunday's match. There is some good news & bad news. Joey Carbery's ankle seems to be recovering well & looks set to match fit for his first ever RWC game against Scotland on Sunday. Decisions for Rob Kearney & Keith Earls for team selection will be made on Friday. Robbie Henshaw is still in doubt after he picked up an hamstring injury at Ireland's training camp this week. But he got tested at a local clinic in Japan this week & things are being assessed by the team's management & doctor to see if he can be fit to start for Sunday. Fingers crossed.

My TV channel options for this tournament are on RTÉ2 in Ireland & ITV HD, ITV4 & S4C HD in the UK.

This is RTÉ's trailer for the RWC.

It's theme is set in a Japanese high speed train with some of RTÉ's RWC analysts being featured as passengers/train driver in the train.

I would like to see trailers from other broadcaster's if you have them as I like looking at TV presentation as a hobby.

Thanks.

Yeah; I know. It was my first time seeing Japan & Ireland in a competitive rugby match today. I felt deflated after seeing the result. But I did understand that it was a really tough game to watch this morning if you're an Irish fan. The two tries from Ringrose & Kearney really gave me a lift in confidence in the early stages of the match. Another positive from it was seeing Keith Earls getting the losing BP just before Japan had tried to score their final try just in front of the posts. That moment in itself was brilliantly timed from Earls POV. He deserves all the credit for executing that move against them. But Japan were really ferocious in their gameplay for the rest of the match. Japan, being the fitter team, did their job really well to have that big win today. Well done to them all. They deserve to celebrate their big victory against us.

Also South Africa had a big victory today against Nambia. 57-3 was the final score today. Well done to them.

Chaos today as the organisers cancel 2 games because of the impending Typhoon. This now means that Italy are out. Although it's unlikely they would have beaten New Zealand.

Big shame and looks rather amateur that there were no contingency plans in place - given it's Typhoon season in Japan.
