Default Netflix's "Dark" (Season 2)

New Netflix show that's been getting some pretty decent reviews, lots of comparisons to 'Stranger Things.'
All 10 episodes available to stream now. Be aware it's in German though, just a heads up for those that don't like to 'read' their shows.

German supernatural thriller family drama web series.

The disappearance of two young children in a German town brings light to the fractured relationships, double lives, and the dark past of four families living there, revealing a mystery that spans across three generations.

Watched 2 eps yesterday, so far so good. Kind of has a Forbrydelsen (The Killing) meets Stranger Things vibe. As the title would suggest, it is quite dark, both in tone, and the look of the show itself. I'm watching in the original German language, which I think is the way to go here. There is also an English dubbing among other languages.

An amazing series - but it is divisive - I think it is the best thing on Netflix for quite a while however my other half lost interest half way through the first series. Now that it has been given a final season (season 3) I hope we get a really nice blu-ray release - it would be worth very penny.

In what way is it divisive? Something along the lines of 50/50 would be divisive. I’m seeing something closer to 90/10, positive.

The word divisive has nothing to do with the balance of how it is split.

"Meaning:divisive
/dɪˈvʌɪsɪv/
Learn to pronounce
adjective
adjective: divisive
tending to cause disagreement or hostility between people."

It might not cause hostility between people (although it has created heated arguments in our house with family and friends) there is nothing wrong with my use of the word.

Truly top notch television and very binge worthy. Definitely recommend watching in German with English subs. The dubbed English isn’t awful but it takes away from real emotion and is slightly distracting. They certainly set the stage for a second season and have definitely earned it. It can be a little overwhelming with its large cast and sorting everybody out but it’s well worth it. I really hate the laziness of slapping a Rubik’s cube to shout out we’re in the 1980’s and I find it slightly suspect that James Dean had entered the pop culture conversation in 1953 but these are very minor complaints. A very strong 8.5 or 9 out of 10.

Easily my favorite show in quite some time. The writing is very smart, layered and they can easily can get 3 or more seasons out of it. I hope it gets picked up, it would be a shame to not get some more.

I agree the dubbing is tolerable. If you decide to watch dont give up until the 3rd episode as it is slow to start. After the 5th episode it goes off the rails, if you made it that far Im quite sure you wont be able to stop.

Very very good series, only minor complaint was that
[Show spoiler] they laid on the constant reminders of the current time period a little too thick.

Great Series. It was bit slow in the beginning episodes. But 2nd half of the series gets to total crazy in a good way.

I'm watching it in English. The lips not syncing is a bit annoying, but you get used to it. The show is actually quite good. It definitely has a Stranger Things feel to it.

Finally finished it, great great show. Has just the right balance of leaving you in the dark, while carefully unraveling more and more of the puzzle. I really loved the soundtrack too, some really great songs that I've discovered through this show, and they edited them so well to some of the scenes, particularly the montage stuff.

As far as language goes, I think it works so well in German, that I just can't imagine it having the same impact in English. I look forward to seeing where they take it in Season 2.

Just finished it too. Absolutely loved it. Loads of characters and loads going on but definitely one of my top 3 shows of 2017. Can't wait for season 2.

And yes, it has to be watched in German with subtitles for the full effect. What a show

Holy ****. What a series. The ending of the season finale blew me away. I was hoping
[Show spoiler]they would jump 33 years (or more?) into the future.

Can't wait for season 2.

For any newcomers, definitely watch the series in German with English subs. The dub won't do the show justice.

Easter egg: Tronte's mother is played by Faora from MoS.

Dark has been described as being reminiscent of Stranger Things but I found it to be it's own beast. The most accurate (for lack of a better term) comparison would maybe be
[Show spoiler]Predestination.

10/10. One of THE best shows to come out recently. For anyone who wants to challenge themselves or just watch a strong sci-fi drama, you'll hit the jackpot with Dark.

Agreed, I described it to a friend yesterday as:

[Show spoiler]a cross between Stranger Things, The Killing and Back to The Future.
