![]() ![]() New Netflix show that's been getting some pretty decent reviews, lots of comparisons to 'Stranger Things.' All 10 episodes available to stream now. Be aware it's in German though, just a heads up for those that don't like to 'read' their shows. Last edited by MooneyRara; 08-22-2019 at 10:20 PM. |

Watched 2 eps yesterday, so far so good. Kind of has a Forbrydelsen (The Killing) meets Stranger Things vibe. As the title would suggest, it is quite dark, both in tone, and the look of the show itself. I'm watching in the original German language, which I think is the way to go here. There is also an English dubbing among other languages.

An amazing series - but it is divisive - I think it is the best thing on Netflix for quite a while however my other half lost interest half way through the first series. Now that it has been given a final season (season 3) I hope we get a really nice blu-ray release - it would be worth very penny.

"Meaning:divisive /dɪˈvʌɪsɪv/ Learn to pronounce adjective adjective: divisive tending to cause disagreement or hostility between people." It might not cause hostility between people (although it has created heated arguments in our house with family and friends) there is nothing wrong with my use of the word. |

Truly top notch television and very binge worthy. Definitely recommend watching in German with English subs. The dubbed English isn’t awful but it takes away from real emotion and is slightly distracting. They certainly set the stage for a second season and have definitely earned it. It can be a little overwhelming with its large cast and sorting everybody out but it’s well worth it. I really hate the laziness of slapping a Rubik’s cube to shout out we’re in the 1980’s and I find it slightly suspect that James Dean had entered the pop culture conversation in 1953 but these are very minor complaints. A very strong 8.5 or 9 out of 10.

Easily my favorite show in quite some time. The writing is very smart, layered and they can easily can get 3 or more seasons out of it. I hope it gets picked up, it would be a shame to not get some more.
I agree the dubbing is tolerable. If you decide to watch dont give up until the 3rd episode as it is slow to start. After the 5th episode it goes off the rails, if you made it that far Im quite sure you wont be able to stop. |

Finally finished it, great great show. Has just the right balance of leaving you in the dark, while carefully unraveling more and more of the puzzle. I really loved the soundtrack too, some really great songs that I've discovered through this show, and they edited them so well to some of the scenes, particularly the montage stuff.
As far as language goes, I think it works so well in German, that I just can't imagine it having the same impact in English. I look forward to seeing where they take it in Season 2. Last edited by MifuneFan; 01-13-2018 at 10:57 PM. |

And yes, it has to be watched in German with subtitles for the full effect. What a show ![]() |

Holy ****. What a series. The ending of the season finale blew me away. I was hoping
[Show spoiler] Can't wait for season 2. For any newcomers, definitely watch the series in German with English subs. The dub won't do the show justice. Easter egg: Tronte's mother is played by Faora from MoS. Dark has been described as being reminiscent of Stranger Things but I found it to be it's own beast. The most accurate (for lack of a better term) comparison would maybe be [Show spoiler] 10/10. One of THE best shows to come out recently. For anyone who wants to challenge themselves or just watch a strong sci-fi drama, you'll hit the jackpot with Dark. Last edited by ArrestedDevelopment; 01-17-2018 at 10:36 AM. |
