I'm so glad we're getting more of his work on blu-ray... it's interesting that this is the one they chose, but I'm sort of glad about it....since I never got the second DVD volume they put out, but I did get the first and third ![]() |

If you know what you're getting into this is quite an enjoyable movie. You just might want to hide it if you have a girlfriend over. Unless she's into that kind of thing
![]() Cult Epics released an uncut version of Score, so I think it's likely Cheeky! will follow suit. |

Hey Coop, you should take a look at Tinto's early films.
Obviously, his erotic films get the most attention, because of the media, but Tinto's early films are very interesting. Cult Epics released a few that are definitely worth picking up. I doubt they will ever come out on Blu-ray as apparently there are no suitable elements for them. They are closer to what I would describe as classic B European psychedelic cinema. Deadly Sweet, in particular, is excellent (with a terrific soundtrack). It is from what I consider to be Jean-Louis Trintignant's (Kieslowski's Red) most interesting period. ![]() ![]() ![]() By the way, recently a nice DVD of Umberto Lenzi's Cosi' Dolce... Cosi' Perversa (So Sweet, So Perverse), with Jean-Louis, also popped up in Italy ![]() http://www.amazon.it/Cosi-Dolce-Perv...1543959&sr=1-1 Pro-B Last edited by pro-bassoonist; 07-06-2012 at 03:13 AM. |

Serious question:
Outside of giving one a boner, how is entertainment derived from Tinto Brass movies? I've never seen one of his films, only long clips on Dailymotion, but there's just...nothing there. Big-boobed women masturbating and some really asinine dialog and humor. I just don't see how this garbage can be considered watchable. Unless, of course, you like watching movies just for the sake of getting a hard-on, but that's so f***ing boring I can't understand the mindset behind that. Is there something I'm missing? Softcore film is just so mind-numbingly bad. |

To be fair, there's an extremely lucrative industry that would disagree with you. People like sex and erotica, if they didn't we wouldn't have Cinemax late night programming, or Adult pay-per-view, or the porn industry. Lots of times people try to explain away their fascination by saying that there is just a "certain charm" to these types of films, and while that may be true--and certainly, Tinto Brass' films are generally more interesting and bizarre than most--a lot of the draw comes from bare flesh and naughty situations. This is really no different than say, an action blockbuster, where the audience is thrilled by explosions and danger. The difference is that, in some parts of the world (the US especially), admiration for erotica is still taboo, perhaps moreso today than when most of these films were made.
