I know this is being released elsewhere, but I think it is dumb not to have this match the other Kubrick steels.

Kind of bummed they didn't even include the Monolith in the artwork.

I agree. But.....I do really like the artwork on this one, and I don't have the other Kubrick steels anyway. Sold!

Same here and since you have to go the flebay route to get The Shining I never got A Clockwork Orange or Full Metal Jacket even when they hit £9.99.

The other ones look a bit rubbish though. This looks great in my opinion, much better than the Canadian edition.

Matte finish for this artwork is a major fail. It features glossy items (the spacesuit), so it at least needed spot gloss.

Not being white is just plain deceptive. How hard is it for mockups to have accurate colors? Of course if it hadn't looked white a lot less people would have bought it.

I was really interested before but I definitely will be passing now.

This is why I like tha I ordered on amazon.de and that they honor release dates.

Seeing these pics I just now canceled my order and will wait for a price drop.

Shades of the Godzilla release, which looked all bright colours and solid ink on the web page, but in the flesh is largely unfinished bare metal with thin layers of artwork, and looks electrostatic rather than enamelled.

I don't much like the persistent Zavvi habit of a bevel round the front face, which they really only need if they're going to emboss something; I see they've embossed the title on this one, but even so, slapping artwork over the bevel in such a way that the two elements are at odds with each other, as often happens (eiither version of The Fly, for instance), seems to say that not a lot of cohesive thought has gone into the design. To me it looks sloppy and one-size-fits-all.

When this was announced, I got that immediate twitch of the ordering finger, mostly because I love this film. But I'm glad now I came to my double-dip senses, helped by the luxury of already having the black "HAL's eye" steelbook, which has the same transfer anyway.

I decided that I liked this one and ordered it.l An exception to my 'poster art only unless there is extra content' rule. The front at least seems in the right spirit (unlike the homogenous Kubrick collection ones). I didn't even own this one on BD yet.

Reviving this thread!

Can anyone verify the Region code of the disc? Thinking of selling mine and want to make sure it can play in US players.

thanks
