Great that this turned out to be another UHD like "Breathless". I never picked up either the Criterion or SC Blu because the master just looked like absolute shite. Bring on "Army of Shadows" with a less aggressive Eclair grade.

not yet, but Amazon did update their listing with the following message:

This item cannot be delivered to the United States. Please select a different address.

Seeing this message may mean that Studio Canal may be planning a 4K release here also. Worst case scenrario is that Criterion reacquires the rights and release a 4K mastered blu-ray (Since they have no plans of releasing anything on 4K UHD anytime soon).

Alternatively it could just be Amazon pre-order Tom foolery.

Not as bad as I'd feared given the recent trailer for the French Serpico 4K, but still a little greenish. Whites do look white though.

So annoying that certain releases won’t cross the pond(Covid?)
to the US like this one. I could use a forwarding service like I’m doing for the Breathless 4K, but I think I’ll wait and see if things change for this release.

Maybe it's because they're pre-orders? I know that at least for Amazon Japan once it's released, an item you couldn't get delivered while in pre-order stage is now allowed to be shipped overseas. I'm not sure how it is with, say, Amazon UK, as many of the big name 4K releases haven't been released yet, so I can only say this for Amazon JP for now (but here's hoping it works with Amazon UK!).

It's exactly the same for the other Amazons. They don't do pre-orders for international destinations (outside the EU etc.) because they can't guarantee shipping at the time of release, including items being pushed back and whatnot. Once it's out and shipping to you is active, you can order them.

Can I ask how a forwarding service works? I'm in the US as well and have some Amazon UK orders I'd like to not have to cancel.

I just did a google search and found this site:

Once you sign up, they'll give you an actual UK address you'll use when you order things online. It will be shipped to that address. Once they receive the package,they'll contact you as far as as fees (shipping, etc.) before they ship it your US address.
