This movie is SO bad, it’s a lot of fun. Not a fan of top dollar for shitty, ancient Paramount masters, though.

I had a paperback copy of the novel (just as silly but better than the film) back in the nineties with a hilarious cover blurb from Elizabeth Taylor. “No other book has touched me as much or connected so deeply…as a woman, a mother, a grandmother, and a psychic soul!”

It's been several years since I saw this, but I remember thinking it was good fun, albeit not a "good" movie per se. I like anything with Kim Basinger. I will probably pick this one up. Speaking of early-2000s supernatural horror flicks, I have to wonder if we'll ever get Lost Souls on Blu-ray?

Yes, the BDInfo posted looks very good as far as technical specs for this release. That doesn't mean the release can't have issues of course... but it appears to have a solid encode.

I ordered this and just watched it tonight. I hadn't seen it in quite awhile. It's pretty typical as far as early-2000s supernatural horror movies go, and has a lot of clunky dialogue that does a lot of "telling" more than showing. Not a great film—however, I find it endlessly watchable. Angela Bettis is fantastic in it; Basinger is hit-or-miss, but is likable in the lead role, and Christina Ricci's small role is quite good.

The PQ is pretty good as far as I'm concerned. Not stellar, but it's the best the film has ever looked in any home media format. No new features that weren't on the original DVD from 2001, which is a bit of a bummer, though not necessarily shocking as this film was not very popular upon release, and is probably much less popular now. I'm glad someone like Scream Factory finally brought it to Blu-ray. It's an exemplar of the many Satanic/religious-themed horror movies of its era. Looking at it now, it reminds me a lot of John Schlesinger's The Believers.

Considering how SCREAM has treated other releases with several bonus features, and the lack on this one was a tad disappointing, I'm still grateful they released it, it looks fantastic and it's such a great film.

Just be thankful it has some extras, there are other releases that sre completely bare. This isn't a popular film, so there likely wasn't much financial incentive for SF to invest in new extras for it. It's also possible that SF tried to reach out to people to do interviews, and no one accepted.
