Default Which upcoming movie will “heal” today’s audiences?

I credit The Lord of the Rings movies, particularly the first one, which was released in late 2001, with playing an instrumental role in the healing of America’s collective psyche after the 9/11 attacks. The Fellowship of the Ring was a huge blockbuster, and it gave us something else to think about besides the horrific terrorist attacks. I remember that, all of a sudden, people everywhere were talking about that first entry in the Trilogy instead of talking constantly about 9/11. The movie did not make the tragic reality of the real-life attacks go away, but it did provide some considerable mental distraction solace.

I wonder which upcoming movie is going to be the “healer”, so to speak, when the COVID-19 situation hopefully stabilizes.

I imagine it'll be something crowd-pleasing and big. Maybe Tenet, Wonder Woman 1984, Black Widow or even West Side Story.

Hopefully, Whatever movie you see first in the theaters will make things seem normal again-if that is possible.

Oddly enough, in the same month, Black Hawk Down came out and served as a grim omen in regards to the Iraq War.

As to what will be the Healer, who can say? It's all a matter of when the stars align.

Tenet is a Nolan film, so as soon as it is shown it will eradicate Covid-19 and the world will come together and live in harmony.

I don't really see any major event films like Lord of the Rings, Titanic, or End Game. There are some films that will do very well, but I don't think any of them are poised to really capture everyone's imagination.

I'm not sure it'll do much healing as it's not a very good film, but I feel that Stargirl on Disney+ carries a tremendous amount of positivity and spirit that, whilst I didn't like the film overall, I really appreciated that small dose in this frustrating time.

While I understand the argument you're trying to make, there were several movies that achieved blockbuster grosses after 9/11 and before LOTR 1 was released. Furthermore, Harry Potter 1 grossed more money than LOTR 1 both domestically and worldwide. Audiences already felt safe before LOTR 1, and I would think that parents taking kids to see Harry Potter 1 was more "healing" than grown-ups going to see LOTR 1 by themselves.
