We’re especially proud to announce our latest special edition blu-ray set, Cinematic Sorceress: The Films of Nina Menkes, a generous six film collection highlighting the legendary American auteur’s career in path-breaking narrative filmmaking on the occasion of the theatrical release of her latest documentary Brainwashed: Sex-Camera-Power!

The New York Times has dubbed Nina Menkes “a cinematic sorceress of the self,” and continued, “no less than David Lynch, Ms. Menkes is an artist of the unconscious for whom the creative and the spiritual quest are one and the same.” The Los Angeles Times affirmed Menkes as “one of the most provocative and challenging artists today.”

Leading with new restorations of Queen of Diamonds, The Bloody Child and Magdalena Viraga, and new remasters of The Great Sadness of Zohara and Phantom Love, this set also features a wealth of bonus materials including new video and post-screening interviews with Nina Menkes, director’s commentary tracks on four films, a new video essay by Jessica McGoff, three theatrical trailers, and a booklet featuring a new essay by Elena Gorfinkel.

Comment about Jeffrey Kaufman’s review. Haven’t read it in full, but at the top of individual titles it says, This film is available on Blu-ray as part of Criterion's Cinematic Sorceress: The Films of Nina Menkes release. Should say Arbelos.
