A reboot of an already rebooted original film. A trend of major motion picture filmmaking. Why not just give it a sub-title, like Poltergeist: Returns?

Maybe the rights holders to the Poltergeist copyright want to renew the copyright, and rather than just renewing it, they create a new remake every few years.... "Hey, the Poltergeist rights are about to expire, let's remake it!" Or it's more like "What new movie can we remake?"

All that rebooting aside, Poltergeist 3D was actually a decent horror film remake, in addition to the original films. I don't know what they can do with the same story over and over again though.

Thanks. I finally checked out the link and see that it was up for grabs more or less, and they were considering what to do with the property.

I'd be open for a sequel, but not another remake.

I can't wait for the CGI tree attack. And the CGI clown. And the CGI corpses. And the CGI moving chairs. Hopefully they make it really modern and the spirits communicate with the little girl through a 75 inch OLED with an ATMOS system.

They can make a sequel where the evil cult leader preacher takes his demonic spirit, and transfers it into a new human host, who then gradually morphs physically into the Preacher as seen from the original films, in his evil cult's pursuit to absorb the spirit of a new victim.

Poltergeist: The Preacher Returns or something that has a different name hopefully than using the same title.

When they rebooted The Thing for example, technically, it's a prequel, so why the foolish producers didn't add a sub-title to the title, I'll never know other than pure laziness or to refresh the original film's rights or something.
The Thing: Awakening, or something, just not called "The Thing" again. I actually like that film too, but have to call it The Thing 2012.

What we really need is a reboot of The Fast And The Furious films. Reboot series while they are still going on.

They should make it a “choose your own adventure” film.

Maybe bring back Craig T. Nelson and Jobeth Williams to reprise their original roles, playing a retired couple that end up dying and they meet the ghosts from the earlier films in the afterlife. It could be a real visual effects showcase.

Poltergeist Afterlife would’ve been a perfect title if not for the recent Ghostbusters Afterlife.
