Default Netflix's "13 Reasons Why" (Season 4)

So I started watching this last night. I'm interested for sure, and I find it pretty decent...

But what in the world is going on? What universe is this set in? Over half the high school student body has multiple tattoos everywhere. And not just a small thing on a wrist. I'm talking neck tattoos, chest tattoos, multiple large arm and hand tattoos...IN HIGH SCHOOL.

Now, in Episode 3, one of the student just randomly walks into a connivence store and buys beer. No questions asked.

I have no idea what's going on, but this is throwing me out so hard.

I just finished the last 6 episodes back 2 back, and I loved it.

Happy that Netflix continues to binge release their shows, cause I could not have gone a week between episodes.

My only issue with the story is that
[Show spoiler]the rape storyline stole too much attention away from the bullying, which I think should have taken president. Not to deminish the seriousness of rape, but bullying really is the theme that has not been properly adressed in a show before. The way it was built up, everything else was, and has unfortunately been, enough reason for some to make this irreversible decision

Very disturbing how this show is set up. Of course I have two girls.

And, dear lord, I'm pretty relaxed about minor spoiler discussion but a certain poster needs to not post massive spoilers without tags.

I think this is a great show that forces certain discussions that high schools just don't talk about, knowing that since I left high school 2 years ago. I hope that this does get released on Blu-Ray, but I'm not sure how Netflix works with its shows and releases.

Paramount produced the show, so a home video release should happen in the near future.

As for the series, I'm conflicted. On one hand, it's from one of the producers of American Crime (and seems to resemble Season Two of that series). On the other hand, Selena Gomez is also a producer (and it was at one point developed as a vehicle for her lack of acting ability).

When first announced I thought Selena was going to star in it, that would have made the show even better

I'm three episodes in and like the show, but kind of feel like it's being dragged out at the same time. I understand that it's tough for Clay to listen to the tapes... but come on man, hurry up! One side of a tape doesn't really cover enough for an hour long episode (so far, at least).

Does the fact that it's Paramount mean a Blu-Ray is inevitable even though it's a Netflix series? I'm not sure how Netflix operates.

This was my issue. It was like they dragged it out to 13 episodes to go along with the "Thirteen" in the title. Every episode was everyone sitting around *****ing and worrying about Clay having the tapes and what he would do. They could have made a much better tighter show if it was cut to even 10 episodes.

This was good... in the sense of not wanting to enjoy what the show is about but good in the sense that it is important as hell for this generation to view.

I'm on episode 7 and liking it so far. The pacing doesn't bother me as much as other Netflix shows such as Bloodline or the Marvel shows which are so stretched out it isn't even funny. At least there's a reason for it being dragged out.

I thought it was great. It was interesting how almost everyone was so unlikable.

Good show and music. I really hated some of the characters for their invincible attitude. But I guess high school is really like that, it was no where near as depicted when I was a student. Very nice set up for season two.

High school is definitely like that now. Cliques and profanity everywhere you go, counselors that don't help all that much, and those terrible posters about 'problems' like drunk driving and stuff. At least mine was.

I have one episode left, but holy crap, the
[Show spoiler]rape
scenes in this show were brutal. Like, I can't believe they showed them in such detail. The
[Show spoiler]shot of Hannah's face while she was in the hot tub just destroyed me.
It was like Irreversible levels of uncomfortability.

Also, Justin went from a character I hated, to a character I really feel sorry for. His story is absolutely tragic. I also love the gay character, and specifically how he treats the Asian girl.

Now that I've finished it, I guess 13 episodes was necessary. But the only two episodes that really earned their runtime were the final two. The first 11 easily could have been cut down to 45 minutes each.

And jeeeeezus, that
[Show spoiler]bathtub scene
in the finale may have scarred me for life.

I knew a couple of guys like Justin in HS. It is terrible how they were treated by their parents.

I hope Justin is in S.2. I'd like to see how he turns out.

Second season?! Please no.

I was very surprised at how good this was. The final episode where
[Show spoiler]they finally showed her suicide and her mother finding her in the tub was devastating
. I had to take a break for a day after those scenes before finishing it.

So I take it from the cast and creators saying they might do a second season that this doesn't get wrapped up at the end?! (I'm on episode 12, btw)
