The first Godzilla was such a masterclass of combining huge scale spectacle with an arthouse level of atmosphere and cosmic horror. The set pieces in that first Godzilla film when they came where unlike anything else in a blockbuster film, it’s a shame the sequel felt like it squandered that tone for a more clunky and noisy beat-em-up, especially after how great those trailers were.

KotM is so much more fun despite being so plot-stupid. The 2014 film is just too damn boring despite the fantastic cinematography and amazing final 15 minutes.

Godzilla 2014 had its problems, but King of the Monsters just totally dropped the ball. A film full of kaiju action, yet it was kaiju action that you could hardly see due to the way it was shot and staged. And that's not to mention all the other issues. Second worse Godzilla film after Godzilla 1998.
