I rented The Unholy back in the late 1980s when I was in high school, but, for the life of me, I cannot remember anything about the plot of the movie. I remember some hot chick who turns on people, but that's all.

It was either a bad movie or I was tired from football practice that night. I'll probably give it the benefit of a doubt and buy this Blu-ray.

Finally! I'm less than thrilled with the release date being so far out, but I'm happy that we finally have a firm date with official announcement, and so we finally have something to discuss again.

I love this movie and have arguably been the films biggest champion here on the site, but even I can admit that folk's like/dislike of this release will depend largely on a few things.

1) Whether Religious horror is of interest to you. (particularly the goofier 1980's version of religious horror)
2) How much you like practical effects and rubber monster suits
3) How patient you are with your horror films. (Short attention span folks may not like this film).

That artwork doesn't look familiar - is Vestron beginning to stray away from using original art? Maybe it's the font that's throwing me off.

Because of the poster/cover art I associate the movie with this dude from Masters of the Universe:



Happy to hear it's getting a release but I should probably watch my DVD to see if it's worth spending $30 on a Lionsgate Blu-ray.

Other than the title/tagline font and the placement of the text, it looks to be the same as the VHS scan I posted in the OP. (And the image has been slightly 'stretched' to fit the dimensions of the BD case.)

I'll pick this up, but now that the Vestron line looks safe and secure and we have a pattern developing (not all that limited a release, slip covers still available well into the run), I think I shall wait until we get a really solid sale before blind buying this one.

Some movies I'll buy right away, like The Unholy, but most of these titles I'll wait for a price drop from now on. I started buying Vestron titles sight unseen from day 1 but can't keep doing it at the regular prices.

After 2 months of no lease date for anything coming up, and you give us unholy,really lionsgate, you could of gave us something everyone wants. I worked at a retail store for years and we never sold any DVDs of this movie because no one liked it or asked for it. Here's an idea give us the wraith, warlock 1 or 2 and hell slaughter high and little monster would be better then this.

Actually The Unholy is far better than the mediocritys you just listed. As far as your former customers...there's no accounting for taste
