Default Oppo BDP-83 playback issue

I've had my Oppo BDP-83 for 10-11 years, and it's always been a workhorse. However, two recent releases have proven to have playback issues: the Arrow Gamera set (Region A version) and the Eureka Bela Lugosi Poe set. Both releases load and have working menu screens, and sound, but neither has any picture. Other discs work fine as usual, so far as I've seen. The firmware is the most up to date version, but that came out six years ago or so, which makes it seem like a non issue. Is this just a case of the player falling prey to discs it can't play due to coding reasons or what have you, or is there some tech issue that would be causing this?

Since Meditek stops providing security updates on their SoC its possible these two can't be played, but run it by Oppo Service?

So I've had this issue too. I asked over at the Criterion forum and a member there responded that when he contacted Eureka about some of the Buster Keaton discs doing the same thing, they informed him that it was due to the films having higher than normal bitrates. I contacted Oppo with this info and got the following as an answer:

Q to Oppo:
"After contacting Eureka, a fellow forum poster was informed that the issue is that the discs in question have higher than normal bitrates. Would you have any info on how to work around this issue so that I can keep using my Oppo? Is there any chance someone at the company can write a firmware patch to account for discs using higher bitrates?"

Answer from Oppo:
"Unfortunately, there isn't a setting in the player to have the player read lower bitrates from the disc. It is very unlikely there will be an update available for the player since development for the player has been finalized many years ago."

My question to you folks here is, if this is the issue, is there a work around that is possible? Is there anybody out there that can create or modify a firmware upload to work with the higher bitrates on newer discs coming from Arrow, Eureka, etc.? Or maybe a hardware mod?

Play it on a UHD BD player that has optical drive that operates at higher RPM then mid 2009 BDP—83 if my first thought.
