I would really like to see this upgraded. I still might own the VHS.

Its has a really Overtly GREEN color palate.

Yeah the green throughout is intresting. You can rent it on hd but it should look better than that.

This movie was filmed in my home town, Sarasota. I put it in when I get home sick. I would love a Blu-ray release.

One constant you see in films and TV shows made in Florida in the 80s and beyond is character actor Marc Macaulay. He is on the police boat in this movie. He's in Palmetto, also filmed in the Sarasota area, Wild Things, Miami Vice movie AND series, The Punisher, Burn Notice, etc..

I love this movie, but I think it is a crapshoot whether we ever see it released on Blu-ray. It does have a chance because of Paltrow's involvement, they might release it if she comes out with another big movie.

There is so much crap out on Blu-ray, stuff that I have no idea who in the world would buy them. But sometimes, they put a movie out that I never thought they would, like The Puppet Masters so I guess I won't give up hope.

Well at this point I'm going to start hoping for it on 4k now that Bluray is fading out and being replaced and it seems like it'll never happen....sad it isn't on Bluray.

Cuarón jokingly refers to his first 3 features as his "green period". You can see this in Solo con tu Pareja and Little Princess as well!

Just got mine from Japan. The slipcover is actually a tough plastic that is a matte finish with Ethan and Gwyneth being a gloss so tilting under certain light it shows them with a blurred background around them. It's high quality but got mine in a mailer which bend the edges slightly. The inside cover is exactly the same as the slip. Japanese title on the side. The disc has both english and japanese on it. Didn't test the disc yet.

Received this today. Dated transfer with filtering, wobble, dirt, you name it, which I could live with, but also really piss poor compression on top of it (not hyperbole). It's better than my DVD, but it surely isn't worth the money. It's a buy-it-only-dirt-cheap-to-maybe-replace-a-DVD release (which might be difficult of course).

Might post some caps later this week.

So, took some caps...

As I said, the transfer itself is not terrible, but the compression resp. the quality of the release is most likely the worst I've ever seen (in regard to what I own).

You can see the damage/dirt and other problems throughout and it starts right away with the Fox intro (early on it's actually hard to take a cap without any). The same goes for the poor compression and the vertical lines I mentioned, but examples being #7, #11 or #37 (took those the other day already because of it). Compression is particularly poor with #38 and #40 (that goes for the whole scene).

The shades in #18 look terribad too - in motion that is.
