chronologically:
Deluge(1933) The Sea Hawk(1940) Dangerous When Wet(1953) Highlight is an exciting English Channel swim by Esther Williams. Wikipedia defines the English Channel as "an arm of the Atlantic Ocean" so I think this one qualifies. Titanic(1953) It Came from Beneath the Sea(1955) The Abyss(1988) Cutthroat Island(1995) Titanic(1997) Deep Rising(1998) Aquaman(2018) with a shout out to these favorites that included some wonderfully effective undersea moments: Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow(2004) 2012(2009)) Last edited by Beckford; 10-07-2020 at 02:36 PM. |

I know I've already had my turn. But I couldn't resist a couple of parting salvos. First of all, thanks to hasslein for mentioning "The Golden Voyage of Sinbad". The whole movie's good but, boy, that storm at sea with the wooden figurehead springing to life is an ultra-memorable highlight. And I just have to give a big thumbs up for the fantastic opening of "Alice Through the Looking Glass"(2016). An absolutely amazing shipwreck sequence.

Some of these movies you al are listing just have scenes taking place in the water, not necessarily films about the ocean or ships/submarines out in the ocean.
Jaws Titanic The Hunt for Red October The Abyss The Perfect Storm Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World Cast Away Waterworld Poseidon (2006) Crimson Tide |
