Hi everyone! Here at SingStar HQ we’re really excited to announce some very big changes coming to SingStar this year.

It’s hard to believe but SingStar is ten years old today and in that time we’ve sold a whopping 26 million copies, so thanks to all of you for your fantastic support over the years.

Over the last decade we’ve really tried to keep making your SingStar experience the very best possible, from launching the SingStore back in 2007 (even before the PlayStation Store), giving you instant access to the very best tracks online, to the wireless mics we released in 2009. And we don’t plan to stop any time soon.

We’re really pleased to announce that SingStar will be coming to PS4 later this year! Not only that but we will be launching a free SingStar app that will transform your smartphone into a microphone. That’s right, no more mics required!





The app works with both PS3 and PS4 versions of SingStar and is compatible with most iOS and Android smartphones and devices. The app will also let you create your own personal playlists.

We’re also working hard to optimise the social experience of SingStar, so we’re making it even easier to share the best bits (or epic fails) of your night on Twitter and Facebook straight from the game. With an improved scoring system you can also build up your XP and get rewarded for game activity, or challenge your mates online and entertain (or in some cases disturb) them with your renditions of your favourite songs.

Later this year we will also be releasing SingStar: Ultimate Party on PS3 and PS4, which will host a collection of 30 epic tracks, which represents great value for anyone new to SingStar. The track list is looking great and we’ll be bringing you more news on that soon.

As ever you’ll be able to download tons more songs from the SingStore, and if you haven’t visited recently we have just added Bruno Mars and some classics from REM. We cater for all tastes on the SingStore from the latest Pop hits and Rock classics, to Hip Hop and RnB.

I'm not big on Singstar, but if they bring Buzz! on the PS4 and use the same type of phone app for buzzers, it would be very cool

using smartphones instead of mics is genius. Pretty much using it to completely control the experience seems very intuitive and logical. Good direction for the series

The brand new SingStar will be released on PS4 and PS3 in less than two weeks’ time, and we’re very excited to get it in to all SingStar players’ hands! Not only have we given the game an awesome interface overhaul, there are also tons of cool new features that I want to tell you about in a bit more detail.

No mic? No problem. The free SingStar Mic app can turn your smart device into a microphone. Simply download the app on your Android phone, iPhone, or iPod Touch , connect it to the same wifi network as your PS3 or PS4, and get going instantly.

To get all your friends at the party involved and have a go at winning (or failing miserably!), we’ve added a playlist creator to the SingStar Mic app so they can line up an ongoing list of songs while the singers are entertaining the room. Pick any of the songs available on the PlayStation system you’re connected to and just cue them up. Basically, no more waiting on the indecisive people in the room to decide if they want to sing No Doubt’s Don’t Speak or John Lennon’s Imagine.

Got a competitive streak and want to beat down your PSN friends? Once you’ve finished your performance, you can challenge your PSN friends to beat your high-score. When practicing for those weekend parties it’s a chance to challenge friends and hit them with your best scores. High scores refresh weekly to keep the competition fresh and the challenges coming.

We’re expecting to see some awesome performance videos from PS4 players. If you have a PlayStation 4 camera, you can now use it to create all kinds of amazing effects in your videos and snapshots. Swap color filters during gameplay and transform yourself into your favorite music persona using new AR masks to add a bit of atmosphere with some funky lighting effects. Check some of the effects and masks below.

There’s so much more to discover in the new SingStar, but I think I’ll let you find out for yourselves on October 28th!

It's a step backwards from the PS3 version in many respects, but still I've had great fun with this over the weekend, and only two trophies away from the Plat.

Now the first and only person in the world to nab the Plat lol.

Ugh.. I hate to be the person that brings this up.. but every time I hear this song be it a tv ad or something about the movie frozen it's always that same part of the song and her singing let it go.. Jesus does the song have any other words to it?

Same as any song used in adverts and stuff really. The chorus is typically the most recognizable part of a song so they want to use that familiarity. Obviously there are exceptions to the rule such as something like Baba O'Riley where I would associate the opening to the song more than the chorus.

Downloaded it last night. Only 16 of the songs I had on PS3 where able to be transferred which is disappointing. Especially the Coldplay songs since I enjoyed singing those. Also a big fan of HIM so had all their songs too which don't carry over. And a bunch of other random ones that didn't carry over. Hopefully stuff like that isn't set in stone and eventually like Dance Central Spotlight gradually adding the dances/songs they will be made available.

Obviously also doesn't help that I bought so many of the disc versions so that is a lot of songs I don't have access too. I don't buy at all that they couldn't have the discs on PS4. You can use the PS2 discs with SingStar on a PS3 that isn't one of the launch systems that were backward compatible. So I am sure they could have done whatever they did to make that work with this.

That was my biggest surprise. Btw, the Wii U mic works great with this game.

I would have paid for it if they gave the ability to disc swap backwards like with PS3/PS2

I'm working on getting all songs but I've noticed something odd while doing so..

Each song averages 60mb. I have downloaded over 300 songs now & the game shows only 1.75GB space used up.

300 x 60 - 18,000mb

So I guess this game is online only? Streams each song?

How did you get all of your songs to transfer? Mine only transferred 69 songs out of 150!

Been playing for a few hours today and broke a few world records with this being my highest score so far :
