Default Unusual Room - Need advice for soundbar or traditional speaker setup

Unfortunately, I have my 65" tv in an "open concept" room that combines the living room, kitchen, and dining room. A picture is attached.

I'm looking to buy either a soundbar or a dedicated speaker system, but need recommendations. The wife is resisting putting rear speakers behind the couch, because she doesn't like cables...but if that's really the only way I will be happy with the sound, then I will force the issue. Hanging rear speakers from the ceiling may be an option, but again - I have to push the issue with the wife.

I'd like to spend as little as possible, but I don't want great sound. I'm willing to drop up to $2000 USD if necessary and I'd like to take advantage of Black Friday sales.

It wouldn’t be too hard to run the wires for the rear speakers along the baseboard and cover them up. Then they would just have to cross the floor from the wall to the couch. Put the rears on a sofa table and bob’s your uncle.

I moved into a new condominium and have a second bedroom that's small. I turned it into a small man cave. I let go of my receiver and speakers. I now have a 43" Samsung soundbar along with a small sub. It's just right for the size room I have that I am know living in a majority of the time.

There are hidden speaker systems for ceilings and walls that are designed to take drywall mud and so on. I don't have any but have heard of Sonance, for instance. There are also things like lightbulbs with speakers built-in and so on if there are lights in the room.

Decided to go with JBL 9.1 wireless soundbar set up. Thanks for everyone's input.
