Default Things you’ve noticed in 4k you’ve never noticed before?

I’m rewatching the LOTR trilogy on 4k Blu for the 2nd time in almost 3 years and I noticed that while the fellowship is traveling the Pass of Caradhras in the Misty Mountains that Legolas is walking on top of the snow (not creating any footprints), the rest of the party is trudging through it.

The amount of glass-matte paintings in older movies such as Ghostbusters.

Michael Myers looking very carefully right and left before driving across the street behind Loomis at the hardware store, in the original Halloween. Once you see it you can never unsee it.

Well, he had to act normal...police were right across the street where he stole the mask.

In National Lampoon's Vacation Ellen suddenly has a stuffed animal in the western town restaurant that then appears in the back of the station wagon for the rest of the movie.

Are you sure that the DNR didn't remove the footprints?

Pretty sure he is only shown on top of the snow. The rest of it, from what I’ve read of Tolkien this is something well within the Elves’ capability. Although I thought Hobbits were supposed to be even more stealthy when they wanted to be.

Could be I just couldn’t notice them.

It took me some time to notice it as well, but I think I actually caught it on the EE DVD set. Once I read the book, I realized it was in fact intentional, as Tolkien writes about the light footedness of the Elves. Legolas runs across the snow and can assess the situation both ahead and behind. Boromir and Aragon end up digging a bath through for the Hobbits by essentially paddling their arms, lol.

The Last Crusade: The bookshelf behind Indy looks so fake when he says "X marks the spot"

Night of the Living Dead: The house has a calendar that says December 1966.

You could see these before 4K but I didn't for some reason.

I saw this, as well, but only because someone on another message board I browse mentioned it. When I watched Jaws on the 4K disc for the first time, I knew to look for it.

One of my favorite "couldn't notice it before" details isn't a 4K disc, but a 4K scan on blu-ray. It's on Scream Factory's Friday the 13th disc.

When I watched the film before this, I could never clearly see the face of the strange figure wearing a cloak (or a raincoat?), who walks up to one of the cabins and enters. Ned sees the figure, calls out "Hello?" and follows them. We learn later that it is Mrs. Voorhees, but if I thought about this at all, I assumed it was a stand-in for Betsy Palmer, doing a bit of grunt work for the film.

It's Betsy Palmer herself. You may have to keep your finger ready over the pause button, but on Scream Factory's 4K scan, you can see Betsy Palmer's face, twice. The first time is right when the cloaked figure first appears. For a brief second (maybe even less), you can see Palmer's face in profile, before she turns away from the camera and walks up to the cabin. The second time is after Mrs. Voorhees enters the cabin, as Ned walks up to it. Again, for a brief second (maybe even less) you can see Palmer looking out from the cabin window.

I had no idea until seeing the 4K of Terminator 2 that the people I had originally believed were actors were, in fact, actually wax mannequins.

I noticed they walk on the beach when I watched the movie for the first time (on DVD) many years ago. It's a neat little detail that a lot of people don't see.

UHDs, due to their price and varying quality, made me actually check these forums, where I discovered how many people get excited for releases of absolute garbage movies.

One persons garbage is another persons treasure. Also, I've always felt if one can't enjoy garbage one can't enjoy movies. I was as happy to get Franco's Faceless and Warhol's Frankenstein on UHD as I was getting The Red Shoes and Citizen Kane.

I had only ever seen Apocalypse Now on DVD on like a 32" tube television. The next time I watched it was on 4K UHD on my LG 77" OLED in Dolby Atmos. It was like watching an entirely different movie.

Barbara/Judith O'Dea's chipped tooth in NotLD. Technically I first noticed it on the Criterion bluray but it was one of the first of many things I noticed when rewatching my favorites after buying my first 65" OLED back in the day.
