Kate Bosworth (wikipedia) was born January 2, 1983 in Los Angeles, California, to Patricia (Potter), a homemaker, and Harold Bosworth, who was an executive for Talbots. Unlike the characters Bosworth has portrayed in television and in film, which are known as "townies", Kate spent most of her childhood in different cities and states. At age 6, she and her parents moved to San Francisco, then to Connecticut at 9, and to Cohasset, Massachusetts, at 14. It was at 14 that Kate, a champion equestrian, learned of a casting call for a movie about horses.

Although Kate attended the open audition in New York for the Robert Redford film The Horse Whisperer (1998) simply in hopes of getting the experience of what it was like to audition for a movie role, she won the role of the female lead's best friend and the chance to work with director/star Robert Redford. Her previous acting experience had consisted of singing at county fairs in California and acting in a community theatre production of "Annie". However, since landing the movie role, Kate seemed to be in more sound stages than ranches. Fearful that an early career would rob her of her childhood, she took 18 months off to live a normal life before opting to plunge into acting again. In 2000, she landed the role of the bratty sister in the feature film The Newcomers (2000) and the part of a football co-captain's girlfriend in the Denzel Washington movie Remember the Titans (2000).

Throughout high school, Kate maintained academic excellence and was an honor roll student and a member of National Honor Society. In her spare time, she has volunteered with various non-profit organizations, including a Los Angeles program for physically challenged children who learn to ride horses with assistance.

She has heterochromia it can be present at birth (congenital) or acquired. The incidence of congenital heterochromia iridium is approximately six out of a 1,000, although in most of these cases, it is hardly noticeable and unassociated with any other abnormality.

EXCLUSIVE: Mel Gibson and Kate Bosworth are set to star in Force of Nature, an action film that Michael Polish will direct from a script by Cory Miller. Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films CEOs and co-founders Randall Emmett and George Furla will produce with Luillo Ruiz, with Tim Sullivan and Alex Eckert exec producing.

This will be the second Gibson vehicle on the Croisette, after his attachment was announced yesterday on Fatman. He is also getting close on directing The Wild Bunch, a new version of the 1969 Sam Peckinpah-directed classic Western at Warner Bros which Gibson has been writing with Bryan Bagby.

Force of Nature centers on a cop who must protect the remaining residents of a building in the midst of a hurricane evacuation while violent criminals attempt to pull off a mysterious heist within the building. Gibson plays the stubborn retired detective who refuses to evacuate, and fights back when the thieves show up at his doorstep.

Sheila Jaffe is currently casting additional roles, with production scheduled to begin July 19 in Puerto Rico.

Christian Mercuri’s Bluebox International, a division of Capstone Group, will sell foreign at the Cannes film market.

Force of Nature will mark the second collaboration between Gibson, Emmett, and Furla as the trio is currently in post-production on the Joe Carnahan-directed Boss Level. This will be the third collaboration between Emmett/Furla and Polish.

EFO is in post-production on the Martin Scorsese-directed The Irishman with Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Al Pacino, and the Polish-helmed WWII drama Axis Sally starring Pacino.

Gibson is repped by CAA.

Finally, there's an update on Kate's movie of Sharon Tate's life.

Kate Bosworth will play Sharon Tate for Michael Polish in the drama Tate, which Myriad Pictures is introducing to Cannes buyers this week.

Santa Monica-based Myriad is financing and producing the project, and Bosworth and Polish will co-produce through their Make Pictures Productions.

Principal photography is set to commence later this year in Budapest. Tate aims to switch the focus from Tate’s tragic death 50 years ago to exploring her life’s contributions.

The film will chronicle Tate from her early days as a Texas beauty queen, to her work in film and fashion, her status as 1960s ‘It’ girl, and her relationships. She was married to Roman Polanski and was carrying his child when she was murdered by followers of cult leader Charles Manson in August 1969.

Polish and William Day Frank wrote the screenplay. Individual producers on Tate are Bosworth, Polish, Nick Phillips, and Myriad chief Kirk D’Amico.

“Michael Polish’s script is a compelling portrait of a gifted and talented actress,” said D’Amico. “This film will celebrate Sharon Tate’s extraordinary life as it intersected with the turbulent sixties, especially in fashion, film and music.”

Polish added, “This film will explore the life of Sharon Tate including her complicated but romantic relationship with her husband Roman Polanski. We are very grateful to have the opportunity bringing this script to life in a deeply personal manner including many details that have never been publicly shared until now.”

Myriad Pictures’ sales slate include Julia Hart’s supernatural thriller Fast Color starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Claudia Meyers’ fantasy Above The Shadows with Olivia Thirlby. Company credits include Margin Call, The Disappearance Of Eleanor Rigby, and The Last Word.

I know how passionate Kate and Michael are with this project. They've been trying to make it for years. There are a lot of movies about Sharon being made currently, but I believe Kate's was the first one announced. I hope everything works out fine.

Not only does Kate Bosworth have heterochromia, but the top of her left eye is looks green and the bottom looks brown , at least to me.
