Stand by Me Doraemon aka Doraemon - Il 3D a Japanese 3D computer animated film is listed on Amazon Italy for a March 11th release. Details are not great at the moment but looks like an interesting release to keep an eye on.

Brief plot its a film about a cat Doraemon that is sent back in time by a young boy to improve the life of his grandfather.

The Japanese release which is coming out on Feb 18 has English subtitles (rumored to include eng dub too) but they only release multiple editions of 2D blu-rays.

I highly recommend both the movie and the 3D to anyone interested. It won Best Animated Film at the 2015 Awards of the Japanese Academy and a Jury Prize at the 3D Creative Arts Awards.

Even though an English dub was made and shown in some parts of the US, doubt there will be a NA home video release since its not really popular.

I wouldn't want to watch a bunch of Japanese characters speaking English anyway, but that's just my preference.

you're in for real treat with the 3d in that movie, the 3d is very well done, there are some great standout moments in 3d, the 3d impressed me from start to finish, the 3d is very demoworthy stuff in my opinion.

stand by me doraemon is a must have for any 3d fan.

Can anyone please tell me where I can get a version with Japanese? My HK Lenti version only contained Cantonese and I MUCH prefer having the Japanese version. I have only seen the 2D version with Japanese.

All the blu-ray covers are identical for the HK editions. Only in the back they mention the audio languages.
I bought this exact edition on the link because it said japanese audio in the description. If you want to hold on buying I'll let you know when my disc arrives wether or not it includes the japanese audio.

The copy I received from PlayAsia is the 2016 2nd pressing with Japanese audio. It does not come with a slipcover.

DDDhouse told me through email that they are now selling the 2nd press too for anyone who wants another choice in vendor.

Sounds like you've purchased the Limited Edition version of the 1st pressing with Cantonese only.

Hi. Received my copy today.
It includes the Japanese track like I hoped. Just sampled the disc to see how it looked. 3D is very good and the video bitrate was shockingly high at times.

And I might add that my copy shipped on the 9th and arrived today the 20th, so approximate 10 days from Korea to UK. That's very good. In fact I about to place another order with them.

Can anyone comment on whether this is worth importing at $20 to someone who has never seen anything Doraemon related?

I understand the 3D is good, but I want at least a decent movie for that price too. A few reviews I saw looked encouraging, but when I read more I started getting the sense it might only be good for fans that grew up with Doraemon and young children. Can anyone chime in? Cheers!

It's a great movie, enjoyable by anyone. Buy it. Be aware that the 1st press of the Hong Kong version does not have the original Japanese audio track, while the 2nd press does.

Thanks! Where would you rank it on a scale from (IMO) acceptable but not great CGI movies like the Ice Age sequels, Shrek sequels etc, up to something like Pixar or Frozen, Tangled etc? Purely talking about quality of the film, not the 3D.

It's a 7.4/10 on IMDB and won Japan's 2015 Academy Prize for best animated film. It's as good as any modern Disney production. Not a masterpiece like Studio Ghibli films or Pixar's best but still a great movie.

Watched this yesterday. Movie was fun, and those high speed flying sequences were incredibly impressive and immersive. That main character though, gee what a lost cause... LOL
