Default We of the Never Never (1982) - Umbrella Entertainment (Sunburnt Screens) - 2021

Quote:
The Last Wave will be the only Sunburnt Screens title released before the end of the year, but we’ll be following it up in January with the blu-ray debut of SUNDAY TOO FAR AWAY, starring Jack Thomson. Aside from featuring the NFSA restoration of the film, we’re lining up some great extras to accompany it. Beyond that, expect to see Rolf De Heer’s DINGO (featuring the 4K restoration that recently premiered at MIFF online this year) and new restorations of Nadia Tass’ MALCOLM and THE BIG STEEL and Igor Auzins’ WE OF THE NEVER NEVER. As with THE LAST WAVE, we’re also working on extras to accompany these all-new restorations, and you can expect to hear more announcements on that front closer to release.

Picked up a copy of this and can confirm it is definitely a new restoration.

I compared the old release with this one and this is cleaner and sharper. So glad I upgraded.

Had been wondering how the Umbrella release of We of the Never Never compares to the Twilight Time release in the States (the extras and the transfer especially).

I looked up the details and screenshots in this review of the US release and compared to the Umbrella release which I own. The transfer appears pretty much identical based on the screenshots, presumably both releases are based on the same 4K scan. I'd imagine the only differences would be any differences in video compression - which are hard to pick without comparing exact frames.

In terms of extras, it looks like the US and Australian release both have the same "Back to the Never Never" featurette, photo gallery, and trailer. The Umbrella release also has the 1974 documentary Walkabout, and the film's soundtrack as an audio-only feature, and the Twilight Time release apparently includes a 12 page booklet.

So pretty close I'd say, with a few more video extras on Umbrella's release and a booklet with Twilight Time's release.
