Default Classic Old Western vs Classic Modern: The Searchers (1956) or Unforgiven (1992)?

Which one would you most hate to part with?

Both blus are outstanding. Unforgiven was treated to a classy digibook and The Searchers is one of the finest inexpensive blus you can buy.

I had the pleasure of seeing Unforgiven at the theatre one afternoon back in 1992 and it was great.

I never had the opportunity to screen the vast VistaVision magic of The Searchers but it's been one of my favorite blus to watch and digest. It would likely get my vote (by a hair).

The Duke or Clint? Which of these must-see Westerns, filmed nearly 40 years apart, gets your vote?

I can't stand John Wayne. I dislike everything about the guy and the characters he has brought to the screen. I have watched the majority of his films over the last few years, and the only one I can actually sit through is Rio Bravo...and that's because Dean Martin and Ricky Nelson are excellent.

Unforgiven is fantastic, and so is Clint Eastwood.

they're both great films. I voted for UNFORGIVEN only because of the terrific performance by Clint Eastwood and some of the iconic dialogue that he says towards the end of the film ("a hell of a thing killin' a man......")

It's a tough choice to make. Both are splendid films each in their own right. When it comes down to making an impossible choice, I go will classics - they have earned their renown over time and still stand on their own.

That's kinda how I came to picking The Searchers as well. I love both, so when it's a toss-up, go with the tried and true classic.

Both masterpieces, but The Searchers is one of the greatest films ever made.

Both are incredible movies, but I have always loved 'The Searchers' more (the movie John Wayne should have won the Oscar for).
