Aww I was excited for a minute there when I saw the thread title, thought a release date was available

They'll most probably be released at the same time or before the release of The Ring 3/3D which is due for release next year.

That would be the obvious thing to do, but you never know with Universal. They can be quite random with their catalog titles, especially in the UK. They could announce another wave of catalogs tomorrow, all for the same release date, and include both The Ring 1 and 2 in there.

Weird, as the Best Buy lenticular version I bought at the beginning of last year is A locked.

Looks like Warner removed the region coding when they pressed new disc's.

Hmm,I was just going by the info on here so unless someone has made a mistake there, like I said I was close to buying it recently as I believed there wouldn't be an issue, now you have raised some doubts but it seems that may well be the case.

Like Sithlord mentioned, the lenticular sleeve issue states that here but is the other release which shows A&B locked to A then?

Until someone has 100% confirmed it via a Region B only machine, I'd be cautious. The Warner reissues of already existing Paramount titles, were simple re-pressings.

One of the Aussie guy's bought it from Amazon just after it became a wider release where it was no longer a Best Buy exclusive, and confirmed that it was also no longer region A locked. However for those who doubt this you could always order it from Australia, as it has also been released here and we are region B

If you look here it appears to be Region free.

Yep! got the US BB exclusive with lenty sleeve and it's region locked the later slipless wide release is region free.

There is an Australian release which is identical which is obviously Region B.

Edit: oops just read post #13 which states the same-doh!

£13.16 fulfilled by Amazon.

The US version is crappy anyway, stick to the Japanese originals.

I think that works out cheaper after postage....I'll leave that to some other good guy to work out(I'm in the pub)

Edit:I have just ordered it,damn drink and buying Blu-ray's don't mix...it works out at £9.33 with delivery so is indeed cheaper.

While the US versions are no match for the original Japanese versions, the first US one especially, was still very good
