I'm glad all the cracking contraptions are there. Odd they seem to assign groups of them per short - but hey, whatever!

Nice. Been waiting for an official release for A Matter of Loaf & Death for a while now. Can't wait.

And yes, let's hope Curse of The Were Rabbit follows suit.

2.0 Dolby Digital for all? A Matter of Loaf and Death got 5.1 TrueHD in UK.

And stupid name for the Blu as it isn't "The Complete Collection", not worth buying IMO unless "The Curse of the Were-Rabbit" is included.

It was probably remixed specifically for that. I'm sure the original mix was stereo "only" and maintaining the original form isn't a fundamentally bad thing, even if a later remix has multichannel support.

That's under a different distributor in the states. And is a full-length feature, while these are all shorts. It's not uncommon for full-length features, particularly theatrically released ones, to not be included in "complete" sets such as this.

Erm, A Matter of Loaf and Death had 5.1 Channels from the start, it aired on TV with it. Lionsgate are remixing it down to 2.0 Channels, that alone makes me not want to buy it (and I most likely won't).

Eh.

I'd rather guess that all they got from the producers was a stereo audio track than to guess that they for-some-reason decided to downmix to stereo from a 5.1 master.

Unless you Blu-ray Disc player can output 1080/50hz properly, this is going to be the only way right now to watch A Matter of Loaf and Death in the US or Canada. The UK release may be 5.1 but it was intended for PAL countries thus its the first Paramount release to be 1080i/50hz even though its region free.

Thanks for the correction. That does justify the 1080/50hz presentation which seemed odd for a studio like Paramount.

Just saw the back cover for this.

PCM 5.1, Dolby 2.0 & 5.1 audio with all four shorts in 1080p.

Grand Day Out & The Wrong Trousers are 1.33:1 and A Close Shave is 1.66:1 while A Matter of Loaf and Death is 1.78:1.

This is the last big release of the month for me. I loved the three shorts growing up...close shave, wrong trousers, grand day out....saw em' a billion times.

And now with this Blu release I learn there's a fourth one!! Never heard of A Matter of Loaf and Death.

I picked this up at Best Buy on Friday. Quite pleased with the PQ, and I like having all of the shorts together on one disc (including the Cracking Contraptions). Curiously, the PS3 shows the name of the disc as Ultimate Anniversary Collection and not Complete Collection. Price at BB was $24.99.

Default 24-bit PCM?

Is the LPCM audio track 24-bit or 16-bit?

I really don't mind stereo-only tracks, but 24-bit lossless is really the only way to go for my purchasing dollars.
