Geoffs Ban

Firstly I'm not speaking on behalf of Geoff. This is just myself talking.

I've learnt his suspension is 2 months, with no stated reason as to why it was given. So clearly he's committed no infraction, and this was the work of bots.

So I'm kindly asking this gets reviewed immediately, and has suspension lifted. Rather than have him absent for another 5 weeks due to no fault of his own

He's one of this boards most informative members, and all this unwarranted suspension does is, harm the quality of discourse on these boards.

I've been using this forum for many, many years and have never felt the need to actually create an account as I haven't felt the need to - until now.

I've just realised that Geoff has been banned and I have been unable to find out why - his insight and thoughts are one of the main reasons why I visit this forum, often better and more thorough than the blu-ray.com reviews themselves.

Agreed. The management of this forum is flippant and flawed. I've been suspended before myself for the most ridiculous reasons.... but the fact that GEOFF had been banned? Like whatever did he do? Besides being a better contributor than some of the BD.com staff on here?

I also take issue with the moderation. But I don't wish to turn this thread into a rage against the machine affair.

This thread is for the express intent of reviewing and, hopefully lifting Geoffs seemingly egregious
ban.

I tried contacting an admin before, though I've yet to have a response after a number of weeks.

Oh I would not be surprised if forum traffic has declined as a result of his absence.

How long is Geoff banned for? He’s been a real miss on here the last few weeks. I don’t know what transpired but can someone assure us he’s returning?

I'm sure Geoff is knowledgeable, but if you are working for Bestbuy I'm sure Walmart won't appreciate you coming to their store and repeatedly trashing it

Evidently not. So I assume this ban is related to Geoffs posts in Le Cercle Rouge?

I mean why not just reach out to him and try and have a discourse if his comments are not in the sites interests?

Instead of unprofessionally giving him a 2 month ban with no reason (of course I don't imagine you thought someone would be become privy to that)

Well from what I presently know of that situation, you could certainly characterize it as such. I mean he is a dispassionate techead. And if you don't want him making such criticisms publicly, surely the solution is engage his criticisms privately, yes?

Geoff has 72,969 posts, I'm obviously not going to go through them, but I have info from several independent staff that he's been taking jabs on the site for a longer time period (hence the longer ban). This is not good manners especially if you are from another site. No other site would allow our staff come to their site trashing it.

I've never heard Geoff raising (quality) concerns of the site privately, but he's welcome to do so, in fact this is how most members do it.

Geoff is very welcome on the site without making (subtle) jabs on the site.
