Default Will i be hurting blu-ray if i bought a 47 Toshiba 1080p tv for $1499

cause i cant afford a 1080p tv but found 1 for this price and for the size with 3years no interest i can put this on the cc and found a way to pay for it with no interest. Now i dont own a Hd-dvd player buy own a blu ray and a big supporter of blu ray all the way and this baby would be hooked up to blu ray only so am i wrong if i purchase? otherwise it still 32 720p on blu ray for me.

If it was me and I felt like that TV belonged in my living room, I wouldn't let the fact that it is made by Toshiba hold me back.

I'm assuming it doesn't come with a free HD-DVD player or something...

Not at all. Just buy the best TV that you can afford / has the features you want. If you get a good deal on a Toshiba TV, then go for it. Toshiba is a HUGE corporation with a lot of resources. However, the loses they are incurring with their HD DVD strategy are staggering in light of the current situation. Corporate decisions will be made for their HD DVD strategy. If you want the TV, buy it. I am sure it is compatible with Blu-ray.

Do it.

It's not a war; it's a choice.

Hi,

I don't know if I would, but you should probably look up as many reviews of it first. I understand about price, but I will say this...I have a Sony S300 Blu hooked up to my Sony 46XBR4 and it looks fantastic, even better than the Panny 30, which I also have. There is a possibility that Sony works better with Sony, Panasonic with Panasonic, etc. You nmight check that out before you make the plunge. (I just looked up the Sony 46XBR4 on Amazon and it is $2499. Ouch, I paid over $3200 for it on Labor Day. But, what the heck, I think I got the best TV there is.)

1. As long as it doesn't come with HD-DVD player
2. You gotta make it up by buying at least a couple of blu-ray movies

Buying any Toshiba brand at this point will not hurt Blu... that's like Toshi scoring a field goal when Blu is up by 100 touchdowns.

if you bought a PS3, you are supporting Toshiba. Sony, Toshiba and IBM developed the Cell Processor for the PS3. I don't see what the problem is.

I think I found the TV you are talking about, on circuitcity.com. Does it really only have an 800:1 contrast ratio? Also, I think some of the Sharps are similarly priced and come with a free Blu-ray player, you could always sell it since you already have a BD player.

Are you for real? What do you think will happen? Perhaps the LCD will explode if you feed it a Blu-ray?

Come on now.. get real... a deal is a deal.

One more thing I just thought about...if you are getting it at Circuit City, by any chance and happen to be an AAA member, go into the the triple A website. They have a 10% discount coupon in there for Circuit City. It can be done only once, but it helped knock $300 off my TV cost.

I think the motivating factor is 36 months interest free financing via CC, it sounds like he already has a CC credit card.

EDIT: Some users on the forums were offering up their 10% CC coupon codes they received via email the other day, do a search and one may still be available.

Honestly, I don't believe that television sets and HD DVD have any relation with each other. Go ahead and make that purchase.

If Toshiba had marketed their SED TVs I'd have bought one in a heartbeat.

I've got a PS3 connected to my 50" Toshiba and they seem to get along fine. Of course the Cell in the PS3 was co-developed by Toshiba so maybe that's why they're pals.
