Hrmm... If HD-DVD won then you couldn't one say that Toshiba are the ones that tell you what to watch if HD-DVD is the only HD choice? He just sounds bitter because he invested a lot of money on HD-DVD. That's somewhat understandable but now he's just looking for attention cause he's upset.

I dont get why he has to hate on Sony just because HD DVD lost. Well is losing. . I mean if Blu went out I would just be like...ok dang this sucks but I guess I need to buy HD DVD now. Of course that isnt going to happen tho

Hmm, just looked through the thread on the other site and to be honest, the OP doesn't understand the corporate world very well. Every industry out there tells you what to buy and what not to buy. Think about the movie "The Devil Wears Prada" when Meryl Streep's character asks Anne Hathaway's character if she thinks that she truly has made a choice on what she wears? In her response, she pretty much explains that the fashion industry has already made the choices for her (material, color, print, etc) before she gets a choice herself. Well, in this case, the BDA has made certain choices and then we get to choose--thing is, the BDA has more choices to choose from.

Sorry, what I said may be hard to follow...

Also want to point out that someone is very misinformed when it comes to the BDA and how much control Sony has as a member. I know that everyone is placing Sony as the poster child of Blu-ray, but honestly there are corporations with higher stakes than Sony (Panasonic and Philips to name a couple).

Some people just don't listen to reason! There is one post in that thread where the individual points out all of the incorrect phallacies associated with the "proprietary" nature of the Blu-ray format and it is being completely ignored.

Some of those guys can't be more than 14 years old, or at least their brains stopped growing at that age.

why have dudders jumped on the $500million pay-out thing... the first time that number even popped up was from an angry hddvd fanboy and the rest of them picked it up as if it was true....

i haven't read anywhere that warner got paid, no executive on the red side complained about it and media outlets only asked that question because the dudders started the rumor..

Hmm, I wonder if that means he won't buy combo flipper HD-DVDs, because those produce royalty money for Sony still.

[ add / edit ]
Ah nice, lovely, still will purchase DVD too, so continues to provide Sony with revenue, in their boycott. Bonus.

Another Day, another Spartacus wannabe that pops up on the HD-DVD side.

They just can't give up on the payoff because that how Paramont went, no understanding of how big corps think and work.

Paramont needed the cash infusion and *****d themselves out, Warner did not need the money and knows there is more for their pockets by one format on the open market.

Sour grapes sums it up.

Seems to be a pattern here. The last guy above seems to have had every Sony item he's ever owned crap out on him. My rack happens to be all Sony right now, and has been for years. Never a problem.
Been lurking for a few months now whilst the war was decided, none of my kit is HD yet but it will be over the next 12-18months. My current stuff - all sony all from 1999 and all working fine Definately some sony haters over there

It IS really interesting. Personally, I think I'd have shied away from Sony after the TV. But he just kept buying more Sony products???

Good thing though because otherwise he'd have nothing to join in with the mob and ***** over.

Me? Yeah, for a variety of reasons I had no interest in HD-DVD, but even when they paid off Para I had no delusions that Toshiba was trying to screw me personally. And I'm actually very happy with my 65" Toshiba.

Toshibots on highdefforum? Not so happy with them.

If they don't want a Sony product they can just get a Samsung or Panasonic blu-ray player. Why does everyone only talk about Sony? These other companies are involved in BR too. And why don't the HD fan boys think for a minute about why only Toshiba makes HD DVD players?

I've said the same thing...mainly that no one else is in the business of making them because Toshiba has had to undersell so hard just to move hardware that any third party would be better off throwing $ out the window and letting it drift to the street below.

It's the truth, so it gets ignored there.
