Default Citizen Kane vs The Godfather - Which is the Greatest?

Both of them are great movies. But which is the greatest?

Also, are there any predictions on their release date(s) on Blu-ray?

In Rotten Tomatoes both of them are 100%

In AFI's Top 100 - Citizen Kane is the #1

In IMDb - The Godfather is the #1

Citizen Kane is historically a more meaningful film for American cinema. It was a breakthrough of true cinema art, at a time when foreign critics scoffed at America.

I really do like the Godfather. Great storytelling.

We can thank Spielberg for the possibility of a Godfather BD. He had to push Paramount very hard to restore the negatives.

We almost lost The Godfather, can you believe that? Paramount execs are the cheapest SOBs in the industry.

Channel 4 Critic from Rotten Tomatoes about CITIZEN KANE:
"With its spirit of visual and narrative innovation, and Welles's precocious, towering central performance, Citizen Kane almost lives up to its own reputation as the best of all time."

Wesley Lovell from Rotten Tomatoes about THE GODFATHER:
"Not only one of the greatest mob films of all time, The Godfather is also one of the greatest overall pictures ever."

Well considering Godfather Part II is better than the original, I'll say neither, but of the two, the Godfather.

This is hard to call, as it is comparing apples to oranges. While true that both are dramas; they are different kinds of movies. Obviously "The Godfather" is the more mainstream of the two (and the one more likely to see release on Blu-ray first).

I love both movies, but I'll admit that "The Godfather" has a slight edge simply due to re-watchability. "Kane" is a timeless masterpiece; it is a veritable dictionary of filmmaking due to the sheer number of movie techniques - most of which have become cliched - pioneered in this film; but it is not a movie you pop in on a dreary day to kill a few hours; "The Godfather" is.

It's actually quite unfair to vote if you haven't watched both...
