4k discs are region free with a handful of exceptions apparently.

I don't think the 4Ks are his issue, from what I am reading. But I could be wrong.

I know. He's mentioned twice that he's looking for region free and he's including 4k in that. So, I'm telling him AGAIN that he doesn't need a region free 4k player.

A region free blu-ray player should suffice. I purchased two Sony BDP S6700 region free blu-ray players from 220 Electronics.

https://www.220-electronics.com/

Specifically, this one:

https://www.220-electronics.com/sony...t-wifi-3d.html

It is a blu-ray player with 4K upscaling; it does not play 4K discs.

It is important to note that when buying any region free player from this dealer you MUST select this option manually on the product page:

"Region A, B & C Blu Ray: Region ABC plays Any Region Blu-ray from any country guaranteed. + $40.00

Region Free Sony BDP S6700 region free blu-ray option.jpg

If you fail to check that option you will get a region locked blu-ray player that is region free for DVDs only. You MUST check the option that I quoted above to get region free blu-ray capability; see the red arrow in the attached image. When you select this option in this example the price will increase $40 to $199. If you are still uncertain about how to order call their phone number: 1-877-578-0587 and tell them exactly what you want.

That's bit of overkill though. He doesn't need two players. He only needs one player that is region free that will play 4k UHD-BDs, ALL REGION Blu-rays, and ALL REGION DVDs. Why have two separate players?

Yes. But he is wanting a region free Blu-ray/DVD player that also plays 4Ks, if I'm not mistaken. Which means he would need a region free 4K Blu-ray player. He doesn't need it for the 4Ks but he wants to have that included in what the player will do.

I was just showing him what I bought and how to place an order on that website; I bought two Sony BDP-S6700s and I gave one of them as a gift to my sister.

220 Electronics sells region free modified 4K disc players, too, but naturally the price is substantially higher. The region free 4K disc players offered can be found at this link and region free blu-ray/ 4K disc playback is included at no extra charge:

All three of the region free modified blu-ray players that I have purchased are working just fine. Most retailers of such players replace the manufacturer's warranty with an equivalent warranty of their own.

Alternatively, you can import a player from a different region (B being the most common choice), but you will likely need a power converter to use it here.

If you want one player that can handle UHD, Dolby Vision, and region-free Blu-Rays - a jailbroken GIEC BDP-G5300. It also supports using external subtitles.

I don't think anyone sells it in the US since there are a few companies that rebadge it and sell it for 3-5x the price (Reavon being a notable example). I got mine on Aliexpress for $300 a few years ago. Never had a problem with any discs and switching regions is very easy.

I provided this person with information. Now they can make a decision. You're just disagreeing with people trying to provide useful information.

No The information is not useful really. Everyone seems to be missing the point here. The original poster/thread starter wants a disc player that plays the following:

4K Discs
Region free Blu-rays
Region free DVDs

And he wants one player to do all that. ONE. it does not matter if 4K's are region free. A lot of the Blu-rays/DVDs are not region free that he WANTS to play. He doesn't want nor does he need TWO separate players to do so. He WANTS an all in one. Saying that 4Ks are region free is missing the point completely. People need to stop focusing on the 4K part.

The only one missing the point is you.

He can choose a single player that does everything that he wants right here at this link that I provided just a few comments above yours:

https://www.220-electronics.com/regi...d_blu_ray.html

How is that not helpful? It is certainly more than you have done.

just to add to0 the discussion. a region feree player will be able to play any disk. BUT you should make sure that your display 9and anything else in the loop) can handle 25/50hz or it won't work.

Yes, that is correct. The player you linked to in that post does not though. I may have misread your post. For that I am truly sorry. The point is lost on others, though. At it seems that way.
