The disc from Soulmedia is faulty. The subtitles start having delays from quite early on and I counted a crazy 5 second delay on subtitles at the end. It also has a visible reel change which might be the culprit.

Good to know. I have experienced problems with their releases and subtitles before. Not everytime, but often enough. Don’t hesitate to contact them. We as customers have to let them know that they have to do better.

I did and they have reached back to me to say they checked it and confirmed the faulty subs. Promised to let me know what will happen but to be honest I think probably nothing.

Yeahhh, welcome to Soul Media. They're probably the worst physical media releasing company here in the Nordics. They love to re-release old Danish movies, and then just totally kill the quality. A good example was with their re-release of "Flammen & Citronen". The movie was released by Sandrew Metronome. Some years later, Soul Media comes out and re-releases it, but with DD5.1 instead of DTS, and something that looks like a DVD upscale on the video side...

"I am still waiting to hear back but as it looks like it now, it will not be fixed. It is not the best of news but it’s the only thing I can say.

Well there is that, and they proceed selling an unwatchable disc.

Another question is, what version of the film is on the disc?
The Japanese version is 128 minutes and has never been released on home video (including Japan).
The international version is 120 minutes.

This Soul Media version runs 122:27.

It could be the US or the Japanese theatrical version 121:11 NTSC, with the seven film reel transitions, each taking about 10 seconds. In any case, the Soul Media blu-ray appears to be from an NTSC source, their transfer has annoying horizontal scan line artifacts everywhere whenever people make any sudden movements. The movie itself is good, of course..

Hi. Thanx for the warning. Was about to buy this from CDON, but now I'll wait for a proper release. Maybe Eureka or someone of the more serious distributors will give this movie the treat that it deserves!
