Pretty fascinating... I can see it either being a huge success or a total flop without much in between. The pricing feels excessive.

going to wait for a few more details, maybe a breakdown by the folks over at digital foundry, but i am intrigued.
i havent upgraded my pc since 2014, and i think this device will be perfect for the casual pc gaming sessions. i like playing a lot of strategy games that are pc exclusives that dont run well on my current pc. that and i already have a library on 500 games on steam, so to be able to play any of those laying down in my bed like a switch or hooked up to my monitor sounds great

You can play the entirety of the steam library on the go. Heck, you get the dock for it, and it's basically a steam console that you can plug and play on your tv. For that, I'd say it's fairly priced, and probably even cheaper than it should be.

Definitely interesting. Wonder how well it will do.

yeah - it's essentially a mini gaming focused laptop. the price is not bad at all

I think it has potential, but I'd have to evaluate a fully-loaded unit before I'm willing to commit. I have a massive Steam library that has a lot of RPG and FPS titles that would do well on this hardware, so it would be a useful thing for me to own.

I don’t like the placements of the buttons being next to the analog sticks, but other than that, as someone who abandoned their steam library, I’m thinking I’m back

Just an FYI, it does not come with a dock. It will be sold separately. You can use any dock you want however, not just the one Steam is going to release.

well, took like 40 minutes of attempts, but i reserved the 256 ssd model. judging by the traffic for reservations, i think this might be a hit for valve

its comparable to the Switch, the only other handheld on the market. Slightly more for a more powerful system with more features. It seems right

Just reserved the 512 model (because of the better screen). Will I keep it? who knows but for a $5.00 refundable deposit why not.

Does Steam make you do a Wifi check or something before you play your games?

Yeah honestly it seems cheaper than it should be. It’s essentially a portable PC, smaller than a laptop but with very little to no compromise in terms of performance and what you can do with it.

I’m not sure about how it’d work with the controllers (they seem a bit awkward) but who knows once you actually try them.

I’m definitely interested. I have a reservation for one but I’m definitely still waiting for reviews and final performance results.

This thing looks like a total handheld beast and what the Switch should have come close to being.

If I were to have gone for it, I would have chose the 512GB model, but I don't game much these days.

While it's gotten a bit of my attention, let's see if it fairs any better than the Steam box.

I got a deposit down for the 256GB model myself. Be great for playing my steam collection, but I bought it more for my XBox and UGP use. Finally play Halo on the crapper

Makes me think of the ol' PS Vita. I had had one for a bit, but I eventually traded it in as I just wasn't happy with the controls. While this looks more promising and has my interest, I also recently picked up an RTX 3070 gaming laptop as a secondary rig. It has been great for when I don't want to game in the mancave (wife actually likes that I hang out in the living room with her, even if gaming ), and has also served its purpose for travel. That's holding me back from reserving one as these aren't exactly cheap. But I'd love the convenience of one.

But does anyone know for sure if it will run non-DRM'd single-player games in offline mode like on desktop? That'd be the deciding factor for me, in which case I'd at least have to go with the 256 GB version. I don't see why it wouldn't, but I just haven't seen any info on it yet.
