One of the best films I saw last year. The young girl who plays the lead is PHENOMENAL. I was thinking I'd pick up the regionless UK disc, but now I'll compare the bonus features to see which I prefer:
Looks like the US disc includes: *”Unwrap the Secret World of The Girl with All the Gifts” Featurette The UK disc includes, according to the thread here, a 20 min making-of featurette and 8 mins of B-roll footage. Wonder if the featurettes are the same. Last edited by James Luckard; 02-28-2017 at 11:00 PM. |

The girl who plays Melanie is fantastic but as for the movie itself, I was kind of disappointed. I absolutely loved the novel it's based on but a lot of the film is different than the book (which is ironic because Mike Carey wrote both the novel and the screenplay) The ending in the book while similar in nature worked so much better.
I'd still recommend it though, especially if you haven't read the novel. |

The kids at my school are reading this book in their English class. I have asked some of them about it and it seems like a very interesting dystopian zombie concept.
Since I rarely read for pleasure, I will definitely be checking out the movie from NetFlix. |

Kids reading this in school? Thats not right. The movie is quite graphic, not sure about the book though.

Books aren't "graphic", that's why they get away with more than films. The novel is a young adult novel, when I was a teenager there were plenty of horror novels for that age group.

In my Debate class I also do a thing I came up with called BATTLE ROYALE where the kids engage in a fast-paced team debate. I have all of the rules for the debate written on a document with the Battle Royale film logo at the top and I blast the music from the movie while they are debating. Only one student so far has known where the music and logo came from. Last edited by PrestonXI; 03-11-2017 at 05:03 PM. |

Same for me as well. When I saw Battle Royale, the novel hadn't been translated yet. I enjoyed the movie but enjoyed the novel even more. When I showed the movie to a couple of people who read the novel first, they absolutely hated the movie.

I very much enjoyed the book, though in some ways prefer the original short story "Iphigenia in Aulis", where it was set in Tennessee.
Regardless, I'm very much looking forward to the author's new novel, being released next week, The Boy on the Bridge. I just sold my code a few minutes ago, and the buyer had no problems redeeming it. I don't know if they went to the suggested redeemmovie.com site or not. Hopefully whatever the issue is/was has now been cleared up. |
