Default Slap shot to be remade

This makes me sad if it happens to be true. i found this in the news and notes on Fox Sports.

Quote:
Boudreau, who appeared as an extra in "Slap Shot," was happy to learn that a studio is planning a remake of the 1977 classic hockey movie. Who should get his old part? "Mickey Rooney," said the coach, apparently all too aware of the resemblance between him and balding movie star. ... The Capitals assigned D Karl Alzner and F Jay Beagle to Hershey of the AHL.

Oh boy! Poor Hollywood, no more ideas.

I mean remake (or re-imagining as some people like to call them ) have always been done in Hollywood. But in the last decade it's been terrible. You can clearly see a dozen movies a year that are remakes.

This should very nicely pave the way for a Holy Grail remake starring Jud Apatow's crew! Can good films, especially comedies, not just be left alone?

Remaking Monthy Python & The Holy Grail? When that day arrives, just keep an eye out for the 4 horsemen, the end is very near.

That was by no means an endorsement! But with the rash of pointless remakes going on, it sounds like the s**t that someone in Hollywood would greenlight.

Oh God please NO. As if Slap Shot 2: Breaking The Ice & Slap Shot 3: The Junior League weren't blasphemy enough.....they're re-making the original?????

thedarkangel1975 is right. For shame. Whoever takes the lead won't hold a candle to Paul Newman in that role.

It's not Slap Shot without Paul Newman,Strother Martin,George Roy Hill and the notorious Hanson Brothers! DONT REMAKE THIS HOLLYWOOD! Does anybody remeber that direct to DVD disaster called Slap Shot 2?,that's a real hint not to remake the tried and true classic from 1977!
