I'm thinking Disney is done with Dolby Vision on disc......don't be surprised that all Disney movies on their new streaming service will have DV

From the sounds of things, PIXAR aren't too happy with how DV is encoded on disc currently and that sentiment seems to have spread to the rest of Disney (or at least to their home video department).

I’d guess, like Netflix only original content will be 4k

Me and my daughter are going to see this in a couple hours. It’s been ages since I’ve been to the movies twice in one month much less 2 days in a row.

Might take my 3-year old to see this on Saturday. It would be his first movie in a theater and I'm wondering if he's ready. Without spoiling anything can anyone who has seen it yet say whether there are any scary moments (scary for a 3-year old, anyway)?

It's a bit disappointing that this movie won't get a dedicated bonus material disc (at least if Target's picture is accurate), but then again that's how the WDAS division of Disney rolls with their BDs for contemporary films. The only divisions that actually show any effort in that regard are Pixar and Lucasfilm (to a lesser extent).

Oh boy... it's hard to explain this without spoilers but the main villain will probably be a bit scary for a 3 y/o, not just my opinion but many reviewers have said the same.
at around 2:20 explains it with spoilers, "might be the scariest thing in a Disney movie since Satan in Fantasia". IMO I wouldn't go that far... he also calls it an abomination. So there's that.

Honestly though you should be fine... I think. If he's seen the first movie and is familiar with the characters there shouldn't be a problem I guess

Thanks. Just bought the tickets. He's pretty good at letting us know how he's doing so I figure worst case scenario is we leave early if he gets scared. My first movie in the theater was Ghostbusters and I turned out okay...sort of.

Just got home and I really liked it, as far as kids flicks go. Much better than the first. It's a shame that the home release won't be getting Dolby Vision since it looked wonderful in Dolby Cinema, but it should still be an excellent addition to the animated UHD library. The
[Show spoiler]Slaughter Race
and
[Show spoiler]musical number
scenes in particular should look stunning. Atmos mix was excellent in the cinema but this is Dinsey so who knows how things will turn out in the home video edition.

With this having just come out, are we looking at a Jan/Feb 2019 release for the 4K?

Is it safe to assume that Disney are done with DV on 4K UHD?

This looks like a end of February or early March release just like Coco was earlier this year.

I got a lot of laughs out of this movie. It was just as fun as the original IMO.

I wish. More like March the earliest. Didn't Incredibles 2 take almost 5 months to come to Blu-ray?
