Default So what’s the deal with Dolby Vision & HDMI?

https://www.hdmi.org/download/savefi...uresupport.jpg

Only HDMI 2.1 Devices can support Dynamic HDR metadata according to them.

I have a 2017 HDMI 2.0 Apple TV4K box.

Am I getting static Dolby Vision metadata?

No, they did some jiggery pokery to embed dynamic metadata into the stream carried over HDMI2.0.

That chart is wrong. All you need is a Premium High Speed HDMI Cable that can transmit up to 18 gbps of data in order to receive Dynamic Dolby Vision. HDMI 2.1 is only good for gaming features or eventually 8K content (if it ever exists). You should be good.

MEL DV. HDR10+ is a squirt of metadata from an automated pass.

DV also has FEL which adds 12-bit capability and additional data.

Well I think the HDMI forum is trying & failing to set the bar.

Now 2.1a is a thing.

At least I know Dynamic metadata passes through 2.0. Thanks folks.
