One of my faves! I have a German B import that doesn’t look too great but is watchable enough. I saw this like three times in theaters when released. I also saw the real lions in the Chicago museum. Too cool! A new transfer would be awesome.

Finally! This is one of the few films where the critics were wrong on this one. I absolutely love this film and I think it's fantastic!

Was going to say Who has the Rights to the English Region B release ( that hasnt shown up yet) ?

This one had a reference soundtrack for its time and hopefully the master Shout gets is on the level of the old LD or even better. It was a really dynamic track with nice bass extension.

Doesn't creature feature usually mean some alien or something along those lines, Ghost in the Darkness is about a lion not an alien.

Not really. The Animal run amok genre is mostly seen as a subgenre of creature features.
Plus, animals are creatures, and they are the star of their features. :P
And let's face it, while based on a true story, the lions in the movie are pretty much supernatural at this point. Same with movies like Jaws, Alligator, etc. None of these movies have killer animals that act remotely like their real counterparts. They are essentially monsters. Which is why these movies are lumped with other creature features most of the time.

Awesome news! Paramount, please don't announce a 4k uhd disc a month after this releases.

As for being a "creature" film these lions were reputed to have a supernatural air about them so they'd qualify. I remember seeing them (stuffed) in Chicago at the Field Museum of Natural History (as someone else mentioned) and recalling how huge they were.

This was one of the first discs I bought when I made the jump from VHS to DVD. Played the hell out of this disc and must have watched it once a week for I don't know how long. Loved those wind blown savanna shots where the grass was just tall enough to hide a man-eater. It made me nervous at every viewing. Yeah, it Jaws with claws, but I love everything about this movie. Day one purchase or sooner If I can get my hands on it. I guess that means a Shout direct Pre-Order.
