Default Receiver suggestions

I'm looking to start a small but evolving HT setup and had a question.

If I have a Sony A80J and a Panasonic UB820, both of which have Atmos and Dolby Vision, does my receiver also need to have Vision or would it be fine having just Atmos?

Also, I am looking to start something simple like a 3.1 or 4.1 and eventually get it to a 7.2 or 9.2 tops. What receivers do you recommend with a budget around $500 or less?

If your TV and blu-ray player are dolby vision compatible, the receiver doesn't need to pass dolby vision. With a A/V receiver, you will need to buy a set of speakers as well, so it may be more cost efficient for you to start with a soundbar.

Denon 760H. 7.2/5.2.2 receiver. 4K/120hz, 8K, everything you need.

While we're looking at recommendations.... can I ask for ideas for a 7.2.4 (2 sub-woofer and 4 atmos)?

Thoughts on Marantz SR6015 or SR7015; Denon AVR-X3700H/AVR-X4700H; Yamaha RX-A6A ?

What is your budget for speakers and sub? How big is your room?

I was also looking into the RX-V6A if anyone had any opinions on that.

You can get the new Denon 760H at Costco for $450 if you can catch them in stock. Pretty much the best deal on a budget AVR with most of the newer bells and whistles you are going to get IMO. I prefer Denon over Yamaha since they use Audyssey calibration software. Yamaha uses their own version called YPIO or something along those. I believe Denon uses a higher bandwidth HDMI 2.1 port than what Yamaha uses as well. That only makes a difference if you are into gaming at all though.

I owned a Yamaha that replaced a Denon that died after many years. I had the Yamaha for about a year and could never get it to sound terribly great. It always just sounded quite flat and lifeless. Went back to Denon after that and have had my S720W ever since.
