This is one of those films I've wanted to see for a long time.

A cult classic. An awesome "Last Man on Earth" film with a great ending.

And to think that only few weeks ago I asked Arrow about it, and they said that they couldn't obtain the US rights to it.

The most pleasant surprise in a long time.

Love the film but never heard of Film Movement Classics. I'll wait for further news/developments before I start dancing. They could end up using a dated master - if that's the case I'll just hang onto my German Blu, which is serviceable. This is the kind of film that deserves a full-blown special edition release so if this lacks in the PQ dept but makes up for it with extras I'll grab a copy as a companion piece.

One of their releases has been reviewed by this site, and, reportedly, looks pretty good. I've read some positive reviews for their release of Pillow Book too.



TQE has been restored/remastered in 2K by the licensors from NZ. So, it all should be good, unless they messed up the restoration.

The Quiet Earth has recently been digitally remastered, so this release can be a major improvement on the German blu-ray release:

My god! Finally! One of my all time favorite sci-fi films! I never did get the German blu because it looked like dvd quality. I still have my DVD steelbook (a damn cool steelbook I might add). I even own the soundtrack!

Awesome mix of sci-fi and psychological horror. The first act Danny Boyle's 28 Days Later is an obvious homage to the first act of The Quiet Earth. The ending is fantastic too!

I was incredibly disappointed with this movie, the only thing i really liked was the final shot.

Love this movie. I've got the german blu, but hopefully this is better quality and comes with some extras.

Great news. I have the old Anchor Bay steelbook. At the time I watched it on a small TV so I don't know if the A/V quality was that good but it looked fine to me. As others have said, the final shot is a doozy.

The World, the Flesh, and the Devil is a clear antecedent for this, it even has the same cast makeup of white man, white woman, and dark-skinned man (African American in TWtFatD, Maori here).

Thanks! What a relief - I was beginning to worry that the release had fallen off the radar. The preorder price is a bit steep (yes, I know the price will come down closer to street date ) but if this is the recent 4K scan with new extras it should be worth every penny (whatever the final price ends up being )
