Agreed. Maybe Shout made a good offer, and this film wasn't in Universal's queue for a 4K disc, so they accepted.

Doom = August 2022; less than two months away from Black Adam and Universal had previously released a DTV sequel.

Van Helsing = September 2017; released the same day as The Mummy.

Smokin' Aces = May 2022; 15th anniversary and Universal had previously released a DTV sequel. The film also has notable A-list actors who are still pushing out A-list movies (Ryan Reynolds).

Wanted has nothing to tie itself to, thus less initiative for Universal to release it themselves and why licensing it out to a boutique makes more sense.

Wanted has Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman, two very popular actors. It also was a smash hit when it came out, making $342M WW on a $75M budget, quite impressive for an R rated movie.

Sure, there's nothing to tie it with, but is that really a reason not to release it? Wanted is a cut above the other three, it really shouldn't need a tie in excuse for Uni to put it out.

Considering it is the 15th anniversary, it is a bit of a strange choice for Uni not to do a SB release to tie into it.

Yeah these studio execs decisions leave me scratching my head sometimes. Like Face/Off,Tropic Thunder to Kino Lorber. Wanted now to Shout Factory, I'll take it though.

Since that's a Sommers movie idk on Van Helsing; they ride or die with him on home video. That one tracks. But yeah it's getting bizzare the "crapshoot" that is licensing out to indies with all these majors now.

No reason or throughline behind the decisions but its what some of us.. Wanted

An ecosystem where it gets released AT ALL. And so you really gotta champion it. Though some of these movies shouldn't be costing us more than 20$ on launch
