David Finchers movies on 4K - Blu-ray Forum

Anyone got any news,or rumours when Finchers work will apear on 4K?

Looking fairly dismal I'm afraid.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Panic Room were supposed to be released by Sony. TGWTDT was even up for pre order maybe two years back but they were never officially announced and never materialized.

The Social Network is a candidate for release, possibly in one of those Columbia Classics box sets. I think it showed up in that poll and quotes from the film were featured in the packaging of the first volume.

Se7en came up in a recent consumer poll/survey from WB.

Gone Girl is available in 4K streaming so that shouldn't be hard, but as with Alien 3 and Fight Club, those films are now with Disney which probably has very little interest in releasing Fox's R-rated catalog.

I can actually picture a 4K release of The Game, but Universal would need to release it themselves in the US since it's been licensed out to Criterion.

I'd love to see Zodiac released, but don't know if its digital production poses any issues or if Paramount is particularly interested. Is anyone clamoring for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button?

Alien 3 is his masterpiece. But it’s owned by Disney, so it will never happen.

Not many people make a masterpiece at the start of their career and Fincher is no exception.

I'd love Zodiac and Seven.

I feel like Seven will always be his masterpiece. That movie was just the perfect amount of f**ked up and brilliant all around. He’s never made a bad movie, but Seven is just on another level of perfect.

I think there's a lot to enjoy about it, in particular the aesthetic. It's a shame Fincher essentially had it taken away from him like Lynch's Dune.

The extended cut of Alien 3 is a great movie and in my opinion way better than Aliens. Now I don't think it's perfect or a masterpiece and it's definitely not Fincher's best by a country mile, but it's still a great movie.

I hated Alien 3 when I was growing up but I love it now (extended cut)z I prefer it over Aliens too.

That's Zodiac for me. I get that Seven and Fight Club are iconic, but I can stop watching them mid-movie. With Zodiac, I must finish it. There is no choice.

Fair enough. Zodiac is incredible, don’t get me wrong. Seven was just something so unique and brilliant and something I feel only Fincher could have made. He doesn’t really have a bad film, Alien 3 not withstanding. That whole final sequence of Seven is just a masterclass in filmmaking and storytelling.

Zodiac was a very tedious movie to watch all the way through due to its almost 3 hour time length and the long, drawn out dialogue. To me, Se7en is his best movie.
