Caleb Landry Jones to Re-Team With Luc Besson on Dracula Origin Story
Christoph Waltz is in talks to co-star. ![]() Luc Besson has found his next project with a Dracula origin story, teaming with Caleb Landry-Jones, who starred in his last film, Dogman, and Christoph Waltz. The big-budgeted film will be a retelling of Bram Stoker’s classic Gothic tale with Landry-Jones set to play the Transylvania Count-turned vampire. Landry Jones will play Dracula. It’s not clear yet which character Waltz will play, but talks are underway with other buzzy cast to join in the other key roles. The project is expected to have a big budget for a European movie but is nowhere near Valerian levels. Luc Besson Productions is producing with EuropaCorp co-producing. The aim is to shoot this year. The project has been bubbling in the market for a little while but is now firming up with Paris-based seller Kinology handling sales and discussing the project with potential distributors. It’s the biggest-budget new European project at the European Film Market. https://deadline.com/2024/02/luc-bes...fm-1235828022/ https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/mo...1c85efd8d3be8c |

As long as it has some cool vampires, the genre needs more cool vampires: so far in no particular order iv’e enjoyed Underworld’s Marcus Corvinus, Del Toro’s Strain Vampires (the book more than the show), Blade 2’s Nomac, the Egyptian Vampire from season 1 of Penny dreadful (I never made it past season 1) from dusk till Dawn, Life Force, and that old Vampire tv show that had biker gangs and different species like the chameleon species and the Nosferatu… if it’s just another blood sucking film i’m skipping…A great narrative like The lost boys or something might pull me in regardless of how classic cookie cutter vampire it might get. I did dress as a Bela Lugosi Dracula 3 times in my single age years soooo i might have a weakness regardless

Everybody did, Heck, I know I've seen Dracula 2000 but I don't have a single memory of it, not a single scene
I liked Bram Stoker's Dracula but Francis Ford Coppola's directing style was a bit odd at times and some of the special effects looked cheap even at the time. So I'm not adverse for someone to take another stab at it as long as it stays faithful. Especially with a director with a great track record as Luc Besson, who's made some of my favorite movies of all time, let see what he can do |
