Hong Kong Septet: The Story of Hong Kong (2022)

The much anticipated historical anthology movie, with segments helmed by veteran Hong Kong directors Sammo Hung, Ann Hui, Patrick Tam, Yuen Woo Ping, Johnnie To, the late Ringo Lam, and Tsui Hark. It's getting a bluray release on October 31, distributed by Panorama.

Is it really only 112 minutes long though?

Some coverage from City on Fire: Septet

Also available from DDDHouse: Septet on BluRay from DDDHouse

That's my understanding, unless there's an alternate cut somewhere out there.

According to movie reviews, 113 min is the runtime of the theatrical cut.

Thanks. That seems very short for a film tackling multiple decades of Hong Kong's history. It probably amounts to 15 minutes per director.

Hmm, my interest in getting this on BD is waning.

Have you seen it?

I think the consensus is "fine" but unremarkable and very safe (for obvious reasons).

OK, understood. I think I'll pass then. I'm not really interested in a "version" of events that keeps the current dictator happy.
