Inspired by actual events, when high school football hero and decorated policeman’s son Jimmy Keene (Taron Egerton) is sentenced to 10 years in a minimum security prison, he is given the choice of a lifetime — enter a maximum-security prison for the criminally insane and befriend suspected serial killer Larry Hall (Paul Walter Hauser), or stay where he is and serve his full sentence with no possibility of parole. Keene quickly realizes his only way out is to elicit a confession and find out where the bodies of several young girls are buried before Hall’s appeal goes through. But is this suspected killer telling the truth? Or is it just another tale from a serial liar? This dramatic and captivating story subverts the crime genre by enlisting the help of the very people put behind bars to solve its mysteries.

The first two episodes drop Friday, July 8, followed by one new episode every Friday through Aug. 5.

I thought this was great. Quick watch with only 6 episodes, and Ray Liotta is in it enough where he doesn’t feel out of place.

I liked it a lot. All the grit and great dialog you'd expect from Lehane, beautifully shot and some great acting. In some ways it reminded me of True Detective.

Believe it or not, the entire prison set was built inside a closed LOWES Warehouse in New Orleans. I played a Prison Guard and was amazed at how much detail went into this production. The actors really gave it their best and did some wonderful work.

Did you get any lines? Or just background?

That is kind of insane about the set. But it makes sense. An empty Lowe's is essentially a Soundstage. Probably lots of good power sources a nice high ceiling to hang lights, plus no windows except for the front. That's some A+ guerilla location scouting.

Only background, but yes, the location was perfect for such a grand set design.

Excellent series hidden on the Apple TV+ app. Maybe way too many flashbacks for my taste but Taron is so good in this! Legit one of the best actors of this gen.

This was really good. But not because of Taron. Hauser was so believable and really good. Seemed like it could have had another couple episodes too
