Default What do you think will be the best animated movie of 2023?

We have had some very good animated movies so far this year - Mummies, Super Mario Bros, Across the Spider-Verse...

Still to come in 2023: Elemental, Teenage Kraken, the TMNT one, Wish, Trolls 3, Ladybug & Cat Noir, and others.

Which one do you think might be the best one of 2023? Which ones do you think should get an Oscar nomination?

Why ‘Across the Spider-Verse,’ ‘The Dark Knight’ of Animated Films, Should Be a Best Picture Oscar Contender

Quote:
Don’t tell me “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” is merely a cartoon. It’s a visionary work that redefines what the animation medium can achieve, sitting alongside the handful of sequels such as “The Dark Knight” and “The Empire Strikes Back” that elevate their franchises by pushing them in surprising new directions.

On a personal level, this animated second installment of the web-slinging superhero is the closest I’ve ever come to seeing an accurate depiction of my life and culture on a movie screen – well, with a few fantastic elements added into the mix. That’s invaluable.

“Across the Spider-Verse” takes place a year after the events of the previous film with Miles Morales (a.k.a. Spider-Man) facing a new threat. Unfortunately, it’s one that causes him to interact with a new group of Spider-People from across the multiverse.

Unless there's a mysterious animator/filmmaker out there working on a giant masterpiece that's going to hit out of nowhere...pretty sure Spiderverse has it in the bag.

Across the Spider-verse, followed by Wish. If Wish turned out to be the biggest of the year, wouldn't be mad about that at all though. Both films look incredible, imo.

My three big hurrahs for this year, the ones I support and am counting on the most to be the best:

Mainstream American: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

European/Independent: Mars Express

Anime: The Boy and the Heron

Many others may come close, but to me, this the big trio that should represent the best of the best that 2023 has to offer.

Spider-Verse is so good it’s going to be in peoples Top 5 regardless of animation/live action.

Across the Spider-Verse is the best film period of the year so far so its the animation champ by default.

Well if that's your response, what's the point in asking the question of what somebody thinks the best animated film is gonna be.

Or what is the question based on?

Just like the thread topic. All film opinion is subjective, there is no such thing as an objective best movie.

I'm not going to lay out an advance opinion, because we still have almost half a year to go, but I would certainly expect that Spider-Verse would certainly end up among the top 5 animated movies of the year.

Yeah which is why I thought it was a pointless thread when I first read the title of it.

I don't care which one is the most successful, I care which one I like the best and that would be The Miraculous Ladybug movie. The show had potential but that bridge got crossed long ago.
