Oh, definitely. But it's funny though, in my head it's a lot like Above the Law or the original The Little Shop of Horrors. For some reason (and maybe it's because I can't shake the Michael McDonald music video they did

It was the first film I saw that showed the Chicago I grew up in (1958-1972), the dirty, seedy underbelly, instead of the damn Gold Coast district where the wealthy played.
For me, this one had it all. The city of my birth, Billy Crystal, a lot of laughs, the whole deal. ![]() |

I think this my favorite comedy. I was in high school when it was released and told everyone I knew to go see it. Hines and Crystal's banter and chemistry were amazing. I have quoted this film soon much over the years.
Always wanted a sequel: Lethal Weapon got 4 of 'em, and Rush Hour got 3. Life is not fair. |

This is a great buddy cop movie period! It was also quite the hit. I remember seeing it when if first came out and then seeing it again in the theatre about 3 to 5 months later. Yeah..the days when movies had legs and would be "held over".

I'm totally listening to Michael McDonald's "Sweet Freedom" on YouTube right now. Such a fun song in that 1980s way.
Funnily enough, I've never seen the movie, but I might grab this Blu-ray anyway because this is one of those movies that brings back memories of a certain era in my life just by way of the trailers at the time and the above music video. |

Thief, Above the Law, Code of Silence and About Last Night (granted more Gold Coast than not but still) all prominently featured the city. Stir of Echoes is another Chicago favorite. That wasn't just the city I grew up in, that was one of the neighborhoods I grew up in. |
