They've turned a grounded tv show into a mission impossible action movie.

Watched it this evening and thought it was pretty decent. Perhaps not as good as prime, early era Luther, but not many things are.
My original impression from the trailer was about it looking a tad more like a Luther action movie, but those scenes are spread evenly throughout, between the usual investigative type stuff. Serkis did rather ham it up a tad, and that ridiculous bouffant wig he’s wearing was hilariously naff, plus I’m not quite sure how they could drive to that remote location where the finale occurs, but they were probably the only little nitpicks. |

I enjoyed it. Kermode hated it but I liked it.

Luther has always pushed credibility but this time it just throws it away. Very silly indeed with Andy Serkis chewing the scenery like a man possessed, with something that looks like Liberace's wig perched on the top of his head. Luther is now indestructible, supergluing his way out of a
[Show spoiler] and basically walking off a second one. The whole thing reeks of "if Barbara Broccoli won't make Idris Elba James Bond, we will"
